Goetia: The Magic Way of Conjuring Beelzebul (Shiva), The Lord of Demons, and Evil Spirits

Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God." Leviticus 19:31

"Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land." 1 Sam. 28:3

A vast Philistine army had gathered together against King Saul and the Israelites.   And when Saul realized how ferocious the Philistines were he trembled in fear.   The elderly prophet Samuel had died and could be of no help, even though when he was alive Saul had stubbornly refused his instructions and God's will. (1 Sam. 15)  In desperation Saul inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets. (1 Sam.28:6)

In verse 7 Saul orders his servants to find for him a woman who is a medium, a conjurer of spirits, despite having previously put mediums out of the land.  A few had nevertheless remained in hiding, and one of them was a witch who practiced the dark arts of goetia inside a cave at En Dor.  Disguising himself, Saul hastened to the medium during the dark of night.  Upon finding her he requested that she conduct a séance and bring up the prophet Samuel.   The fearful witch then reminded Saul of his own law (1 Sam. 28:3), but Saul assured her that no harm would befall her and requested she bring up the dead prophet.

At her summons a spirit appeared and right away the medium asked Saul why he had deceived her, for you she said "...are Saul."

The medium had learned the identity of her visitor from the spirit that came upon her summons, said the respected Bible commentator Matthew Henry:

"The witch, upon sight of the apparition, was aware that her client was Saul, her familiar spirit, it is likely, informing her of it." (Encounters with Familiar Spirits, Steve Wohlberg, SCP Journal 2010, Vol. 33:4-34:1, p. 14)

Saul never saw the spirit conjured by the medium.  Only she did.  The same thing occurs when modern mediums such as Sylvia Browne provide channeled readings to their clients.

The spirit that appeared to the witch at En Dor was not the prophet Samuel but an evil spirit.   Matthew Henry believes the evil spirit was none other than the devil-- Beelzebul, lord of demons:

"God permitted the devil....to put on Samuel's shape, that those who would not recive the love of the truth might be given up to strong delusion and believe a lie.....That the devil, by divine permission, should be able to personate Samuel is not strange, since he can transform himself into an angel of light! nor is it strange that he should be permitted to do it upon this occasion, that Saul might be driven to despair, by enquiring of the devil, since he would not...enquire of the Lord, by which he might have had comfort." (ibid, pp. 14-15)

The witch of En Dor was a practitioner of the darks arts of goetia. The Ancient Greek γοητεία (goēteia) means charm, jugglery, mesmerize, hypnotize and entrance. It also means wizard, sorcerer and shaman.  The goal is to evoke evil spirits and demons,

"bind them by conjurations, words of power, magical weapons and threats of damnation, and command them to do the magician's bidding." (Goetia and Theurgy, magic black and white?  Heterodoxology)

In "The Aquarian Conspiracy," a book that has been called 'the New Age Bible,' Marilyn Ferguson (1938-2008) admits that 'new age' evolutionary pantheism, and occult technologies being employed throughout America were at one time the private domain of ancient initiates. In fact, as Constance Cumbey reveals in her thoroughly researched book, "The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow," many New Age historians claim their occult religion, magic operations, and psycho-spiritual techniques (i.e., yoga, meditation) originated in Atlantis and afterward were preserved in the ancient land of Babylon,

"...and surrounding Plains of Shinar and from there disseminated throughout the earth, including Taoist doctrines of China, Mayan-Aztec teachings of Mexico and Central/South America; Great Spirit teachings of the American Indians, Hindu/Buddhist teachings of Asia, etc." (pp. 250-251)

After the Flood, the faithful Noah remained in the East and established the worship of the true God.  However, eighty years after the Flood Noah's rebellious son Ham and his sons together with other family members departed and eventually settled in the plains of Shinar where they resolved to build a tower, a monument to their own pride, vanity, ambition and rebellion against God. (The Sacred and Profane History of the World Connected, Samuel Shuckford,1808, p. 94)

It was Noah's son Ham, according to early Church Father Clement, who preserved and revived the Mystery Religion of Atlantis/Babylon, magical incantations, and other attendant evils:

"Fallen angels taught men the use of magical incantations that would force demons to obey man. After the flood Ham the son of Noah...discovered this and taught it to his sons. This became ingrained into the Egyptians, Persians, and Babylonians. Ham died shortly after the fall of the Tower of Babel. Nimrod, called Ninus by the Greeks, was handed this knowledge and by it caused men to go away from the worship of God and go into diverse and erratic superstitions and they began to be governed by the signs in the stars and motions of the planets." (Recognitions of Clement 4.26-29)

After thousands of years Mystery Religion Atlantis/Babylon arrived in the heart of Christendom setting off an occult explosion during the time of the Renaissance that continues to unfold within the entirety of Western civilization and much of the Christian church to this day. (1)

In affirmation, Corinne McLaughlin and Gordon Davidson, the politically influential co-authors of "Spiritual Politics: Changing the World from the Inside Out," admit that their book is based on the Ageless Wisdom teachings preserved by occultists since the Egyptian pantheon (27th-30th centuries B.C) and handed down over the ages to modern occultists in the time of the Renaissance, the Enlightenment and on into our own time:

"For centuries, the Ageless Wisdom in the West was shielded from an unprepared public.... The unveiled truths were handed down only orally by individual teachers to tested disciples or by certain religious groups and secret societies, such as the Cabbalists, Druids, Essenes, Sufis, Knights Templar, Rosicrucian's, Freemasons, and others who carefully guarded the teachings down through the centuries. A study of these secret societies would reveal powerful influences on the history of nations...." (Spiritual Politics, McLaughlin, Davidson from "Reinventing Jesus Christ: The New Gospel," Warren Smith, crossroad.to)

The initial explosion resulted in an obsession with goetia resulting in the appearance of many grimoire such as The Lesser Key of Solomon, which features an Ars Goetia as its first section. It contains descriptions of the evocation of seventy-two demons, famously edited by Aleister Crowley in 1904 as The Book of the Goetia of Solomon the King.   Goetic Theurgy, another practice described in the Lesser Key of Solomon, is similar to the book's description of Goetia, but supposedly invokes 'good' spirits.

Goetia leads to the opening of the inner or souls eye, described by practitioners of the occult as the third eye through which perception of the world is no longer limited to the physical senses.  This means that since the third eye of the witch of En Dor was opened she could 'see' and 'hear' the spirit but Saul could not.

The third eye is known as the seat of illumination, intuition and cosmic consciousness, the 7th chakra, the All Seeing Eye of Horus and the Horn of the Unicorn:

" The Temple of Maat in early Egypt was dedicated to the process of opening the Third Eye. The Third Eye is an etheric, or fourth dimensional, eye. It acts as a sensitive receiver and transmitter, by which vibrations of many types can be translated, interpreted and dispersed into our third dimensional brains for gaining wisdom and illumination. Inner planes, thought forms, and higher entities are perceived through the 3rd eye. A clearer sense of cause and effect are acquired." (The Sixth Chakra and Opening the Third Eye, bethcoleman.net)

In Native American traditions, the third eye is associated with the ‘vision quest,’ the occult search for illumination that leads directly back to the esoteric Babylonian Kabbalah.

Regarding the importance of the Babylonian Kabbalah to ancient Mystery Schools and Freemasonry in particular, Albert Pike, the most influential Freemason that has lived, has this to say in his Morals and Dogma:

"The Kabalah is the key to the occult sciences; and the Gnostics were born of the Kabalists. (Morals and Dogma, p. 626)

The famous scientist, engineer, religious writer, and mystic, Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) claimed to have been instructed by beings on other planets as well as by angels during his astral plane travels.  By way of meditation and other magical operations, Swedenborg's inner eye was opened allowing him to see, hear, and interact with the demons he conjured.

Swedenborg influenced a variety of scientists, thinkers, modern science fiction writers and movie producers as well as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Joseph Smith.  In the book, "On Global Wizardry" James Herrick argues that Swedenborg was the first Western Shaman.

A practitioner of the goetia of Kabbalah, Swedenborg described Masonry as a search after Light said Pike:

"That search leads us directly back, as you see, to the Kabbalah. In that ancient and little understood medley of absurdity and philosophy, the Initiate will find the source of many doctrines; and may in time come to understand the Hermetic philosophers, the Alchemists, all the Anti-papal Thinkers of the Middle Age, and Emanuel Swedenborg. (Morals and Dogma, p. 741)

For the Mystery School initiate, the deeper meaning of the Kabbalah is the occult Tree of Life that symbolizes both the consubstantiality (monistic oneness) of the initiate's divine intellect with the Divine One Substance (Quantum Energy Field) above as well as the inward path in which the initiate discovers and experiences the "inner light" (also called the divine spark and inner Christ consciousness). It is a system of occult spiritual doctrines which opens up the mind and the soul to a new level of understanding—"salvation comes from within."

In his Dictionary of Mysticism and the Occult, Nevill Drury writes that the Kabbalah's Cosmic Tree of Life consists of ten spheres,

"...or sephiroth, through which—according to mystical tradition—the creation of the world came about. The sephiroth are aligned in three columns headed by the supernals and together symbolize the process by which the Infinite Light…becomes manifest in the universe." (A Short Guide to Occult Symbols: The Tree of Life, Carl Teichrib)

Taken as a whole, the Kabbalah's Cosmic Tree of Life, which also symbolizes the archetypal androgyne, has a role resembling that of the chakras in yoga.

In other words, the sephiroth symbolize the monistic oneness of the initiate's intellect with the Divine Soul (One Substance, Brahman, Energy Field) while according to occult Eastern doctrine, chakras refer to psychic centers that lie along the spine of the etheric body that awaken by way of kundalini yoga.

When kundalini is struck, serpent power awakens, uncoils and begins to rise upwards like a fiery serpent, breaking upon each chakra as it ascends, until the Shakti merges with Shiva (Satan, Beelzebul) in sahasrara chakra.  With the awakening of kundalini, the third eye opens, and heretofore unseen and often terrifying visions are seen and experienced as a process of metamorphosis (complete transformation) takes place and the initiate evolves more and more until he realizes fusion with brahman---ultimate supreme power.  Fusion however, actually means possession.  The initiate's quest ends in total possession.

In "Warnings from Occult Practitioners," John Ankerberg and John Weldon provide warnings from practitioners of the magic way.   Though these warnings come from a flawed humanist perspective that neglects the warnings given by the Holy God they are nevertheless insightful.

Charles Tart, the editor of Transpersonal Psychologies, discusses numerous occult psycho-technologies, including those from the traditions of yoga, Taoism, alchemy, Kabbalism, Buddhism, and Sufism. In the chapter, "Patterns of Western Magic," Tart cites occultist William Gray who discusses some of the hazards along the Western magical path:

"There are many dangers on all [e.g., occult] Paths of Life, and the Western Magical Way is no exception. The worst danger is definitely imbalance in every imaginable direction.... It is a fact that frequently after initiation ceremonies there are sudden "flare-ups" of outrageous behavior in the subject; analogous to inoculation reactions. Also symptoms of paranoia may develop.... A chief hazard especially of the Magical Path is breakdown of mental and physical health if safeguards are ignored. Diseases are nonetheless real because of psychosomatic origins. Most of these troubles arise through misuse of Magic applied to mind or body, and are traceable to wrong intentions, disregard of calculable risks, carelessness, or just lack of common sense. Genuine accidents can occur as with everything else, but the majority of ills through Magic are invited ones. For example, those who poison themselves with chemical drug compounds and exhaust their physical energies while contorting their consciousness into painfully unnatural knots can scarcely complain when the account for all this has to be paid. Their mistreatment of Magic deserves small sympathy. Magic makes its own retribution on misusers." (johnankerberg.org)

Another warning comes from veteran psychic researcher Martin Ebon in an article in Psychic magazine. He admits that in the psychic world "there is much darkness and greed" and likens participation to a game of Russian roulette:

"A game in which the element of danger is ever present and must be acknowledged."

He lists representative case histories of the hazards:

 1) suicide (justified by the desire to experience the "wonders of the other world");

2) the destruction of families through adulterous liaisons or divorce among those who accept a belief in reincarnation (these were justified because psychic revelations indicated the new partner was one’s "soul mate" in a previous lifetime and hence the perfect "karmic partner" for this life),

3) major financial loss through the deception of fraudulent mediums, (justified by vital instructions from the "other side");

4) serious mental illness from various causes; and 5) bogus exorcists who financially prey on the gullible for "deliverance." (ibid, ankerberg.org)

According to Francis Huxley and Jeremy Narby, back in 1957 Westerners began participating in shamanistic sessions involving hallucinogenic plants and found, to their astonishment, that they could have out-of-body experiences similar to those described by shamans. (Modern Shamanism: Spirit Contact & Spiritual Progress, James Herrick, p. 17, "On Global Wizardry," edited by Peter Jones)

When the third eye opens or the soul comes out of its' body, it perceives or is immediately within the timeless realm of evil spirits. According to early Church Fathers, if the soul is that of a faithful believer who has died it will be met by one of Gods' Holy Angels and escorted to the third heaven. If not, it will meet with deceiving, malignant spirits such as Philemon, a winged, horned demon who supervised and inspired the writing of Carl Jung's "Seven Sermons to the Dead." Jung described the occasion like this:

"The whole house was....crammed full of spirits. They were packed deep right up to the door, and the air was so thick I could hardly breathe...Then it began to flow out of me, and in the course of three evenings the thing (Septem Sermones ad Mortuos) was written." (Jung relates how his soul departed into the timeless realm)...the mystical land of the dead (and) soon after the.....'dead' appeared to me and the result was the Septem Sermones." (To Hell and Back, Maurice S. Rawlings, M.D., p.143)

The German actor Curt Jurgen’s terrifying out-of-body experience took him to the timeless realm called hell:

"...I had a feeling that life was ebbing from me. I felt powerful sensations of dread(then suddenly everything) turned a glowing red. I saw twisted faces grimacing as they stared down at me (I tried to defend myself but) could no longer shut out the frightful truth: beyond the faces dominating this fiery world were faces of the damned. I had a feeling of despair....the sensation of horror was so great it choked me. Obviously I was in Hell itself (and then suddenly) the black silhouette of a human figure began to draw near...a woman...with lipless mouth and in her eyes an expression that sent icy shudders down my back. She stretched out her arms...and pulled me by an irresistible force (into) a world filled with....sounds of lamentation....I asked the figure...who she was. A voice answered: "I am death." (German actor Curt Jürgen's, To Hell and Back, pp. 76-77)

The Old Testament prophet Isaiah said we must choose who we will seek and serve.  The options are plain.  We can either seek the living Triune God Creator of heaven and earth or seek after physic powers and fusion with the Energy Field from Beelzebul, which is why the occult path is extremely dangerous. The infernal cost of the magic way of meeting the devil is very high.  Often the cost is eternal:

"The cost of indulging in magic is extremely high. Every example drawn from counselling work of Christians reveals the terrifying effects"  (Kurt Koch, Between Christ and Satan, p. 89)

Hegel's Dialectic: Erasing Christianity and America through the Consensus-Process

The Obama administration is deliberately dividing people into victim-groups and pitting one against the other “to create strife” in society, said Rev. Rafael Cruz, who added that this is a strategy President Obama adopted from left-wing activist Saul Alinsky, who dedicated his infamous book, Rules for Radicals, to “Lucifer.”

What happened in Ferguson, [Missouri], what happened in those other places is that this administration wants to create strife...”   “The whole concept of social justice is all about dividing everybody into a series of smaller groups, make every group seem like a victim and just put one group against the other,” he said.  “They are trying to create this strife -- because you have to realize that Obama is a student of Saul Alinsky.”  (Rev. Cruz: ‘This Administration Wants to Create Strife … Obama Is a Student of Saul Alinsky,' Michael Chapman, CNSNews.com,  November 25, 2015)

What Leftists and their progressive comrades, both theological and secular hope to achieve through the deliberate and malicious pitting of one group against another is the emergence of a single world order slated to arise from the smoldering ashes of the hated Biblically grounded old order.  They believe that a scientifically orchestrated global order can be brought about through the universal implementation of Hegel's Dialectic process.

The Blueprint

In 1947 Julian Huxley, the head of UNESCO, wrote a book entitled, "UNESCO: Its Purpose and Its Philosophy." His book was a blueprint for an evolutionary pantheist New World Order that called for a single 'new' spirituality: a mixture of ancient wisdom traditions, magic science, occult Eastern pantheism, reincarnation and karma; Liberal 'pantheist' Christianity and its' primary doctrine evolution; Gnostic paganism, international Luciferian Masonry and Theosophy and other occult traditions.  There would also be one language, and one way of thinking. He believed a global order could be brought about through the universal implementation of Hegel's Dialectic process.  Huxley said,

"The task before UNESCO...is to help the emergence of a single world culture with its own philosophy and background of ideas and with its own broad purpose."

Huxley spoke of two opposing worldviews, one founded on the Word of God and supernatural creation ex nihilo and the other on pantheistic evolutionism.   These two worldviews confronted each other from the West and the East. In describing them he said,

"You may categorize the two philosophies as...individualism versus collectivism or as the American versus the Russian...or as capitalism versus communism, or as Christianity versus Marxism. Can these opposites be reconciled, this antithesis be resolved in a higher synthesis? I believe...this can happen...through the inexorable dialectic of evolution."  (crossroad.to/quotes/globalism/Julian-Huxley)

The concept of dialectics has been around for a long time. In the American Dictionary of the English Language, 1828, Noah Webster defined dialectics as:

"That branch of logic which teaches the rules and modes of reasoning."

Simply stated, dialectics refers to 'position' versus 'opposition' or 'thesis' versus 'antithesis,' or 'truth' versus 'falsehood.' By the traditional rules of conduct, if thesis is correct then it follows logically that antithesis is incorrect. Georg Hegel, a master magician in the occult Hermetic tradition discarded the rules and turned the concept upside-down by equalizing thesis and antithesis resulting in relativism.  'New truth,' a merging of truth and falsehood and/or evolutionary pantheism and supernatural Christian theism for example, is now found in something called 'synthesis,' or 'consensus,' the favored vernacular of God-hating Leftists ('new' Gnostic pagan elites).

Hegelian Dialectic is a perfect example of what J. Budziszewski, the author of "What We Can't Not Know" terms the "black magic spells of imposture and unraveling." Hegel's form of dialectics is an impostor. Its’ devilish purpose is to deceptively unravel true truth and norms and then replace them with 'new truth' which is yet another impostor.

Hegel's Dialectics is the strange fire fueling the weapon of mass destruction unwittingly wielded by mind-conditioned and manipulated Americans and Westerners on behalf of transnational occult New Agers and fellow travelers in their war against the West's traditional Christian-based worldview and cultural infrastructure. Called "group dynamics" or the "consensus process," Hegel's dialectic is a psychological behavior and belief modification technique used with great success by Vietnamese communists against American POWs and by Chinese communists against dissidents.

The foundation and key strategy of the consensus process is the knowledge that all people have an inherent fear of being alienated from the group. During sensitivity and diversity-training sessions, skillful change-agents (facilitators) psychologically manipulate this fear to herd selected victims toward a preplanned conclusion that induces them to compromise both conscience and position. This is the consensus process in a nut shell, and when we hear Progressives, Liberals and Leftists  screaming for 'consensus,' they're really demanding that they be allowed to 'facilitate' the compromise of conscience which leads to the abandonment of Christian-based Western ideals, principles and traditions.

There are three steps to the consensus process: "Unfreezing the present level, moving to the new level, and freezing group life on the new level."  In order to speed up the unfreezing phase, communists resorted to physical torture, shock 'therapy,' mind-altering drugs and other brutal techniques. In America, emotional pain, intimidation, and fear are precipitated by way of threats of shunning and vicious psychological bullying in myriad forms:  sadistic ridicule, cruel character assassination, destructive criticism, accusations of stupidity and insanity; labeling (i.e., homophobe, bigot, anti-science idiot), spreading lies, and emotional blackmail. Until total control is achieved, psychological bullying will remain the preferred method.

There are four key elements necessary for a successful 'consensus process' operation. They are:

  1. Multicultural and/or diverse groups: teenagers, 'gays,' atheists, Wiccans, illegals, or Muslims for instance, fueled by resentment and envy — necessary for causing social conflict
  2. A traditional religious, social or cultural issue around which conflict can be created. For example, Special Creation, Christmas, traditional marriage, and male-female sex norms and traditional hymns in favor of rock: "Primitive people dance themselves into a frenzy to such music, often ending in sexual orgies" There is a kind of music which uplifts and a kind which destroys all that is good and drags people down
  3. These are demonized as anti-science, 'unfair, insane, exclusionary, insensitive, intolerant, racist, homophobic, and hurtful' to diverse groups.
  4. The illusory dialoguing to consensus process.
  5. The predetermined outcome. For example: Special Creation rejected in favor of evolutionary conceptions, hymns in favor of soft rock, Christmas parades successfully recast as "Festival of Lights" or "Winter Holiday;" sodomy, bestiality, pedophilia, pederasty, and incest recast as normal and worthy of being taught to our children; and traditional marriage compromised by 'gay' unions.

The consensus process has been so successful at unraveling and diminishing the West's traditional culture that here in America for example, evolutionary conceptions now dominate our culture at every level of society and increasingly embraced by theologians while prayers have been banned from government on all levels as well as from schools and increasingly from public areas.  Faithful Christians have lost their jobs, been jailed, and their children harassed and even suspended for daring to express their Christian beliefs in any way. Anti-Christian bigotry has become so bad that John Gibson observed,

"There is this kind of casual and accepted bias against Christians and Christian symbols." (The War on Christmas: How the Liberal Plot to Ban the Sacred Christian Holiday is Worse Than You Thought, John Gibson).

 Devilish manipulators concur:

"We have battled in America since the century's turn to bring to nothing...all Christian influences and we are succeeding. You must work until officials of city, county, and state will not think twice before they pounce upon religious groups as public enemies. (there must) be a...foaming hatred of religion...a belief that Christian practice is vicious, bad, insanity causing, publicly hated and intolerable." (Red Communist Textbook on Psychopolitics, Laventi Beria, Stalin's right-hand man)

"I think the subject which will be of most importance politically is Mass Psychology. Its importance has been...increased by the growth of modern methods of propaganda. Although this science will be diligently studied, it will be rigidly confined to the governing class. The populace will not be allowed to know how its convictions were generated." Bertrand Russell

John Gibson asked a Eugene, Oregon city manager why he had banned Christmas trees. His politically correct mind-conformed response, "Well, because they're Christian." This manager and millions of other Americans testify to the enormous success thus far achieved through nation-wide dumbing-down and psychological bullying. Having been "unfrozen" from the level whereon America's traditional worldview resides and successfully 'moved' to the desired level and then 'frozen' there, the mind-conditioned now serve their new masters evil desires by mindlessly destroying the source of both their liberties, personhood and human worth — supernatural Christian theism.

"Oh but, Christianity has nothing to do with either the founding of our nation or with our rights and freedoms," proclaim mind-conditioned scoffers, doubters, atheists, and skeptics both here in America and throughout the West. The truth however has been 'hiding' in full view, but because their minds are darkened by black magic spells and their eyes made sightless by black magic dust, the mind-conditioned cannot see Truth even when it looks them in the face. In boasting of his clever blueprint, Huxley for example, unwittingly 'confessed' the truth when he said of the two opposing philosophies,

"You may categorize the two philosophies as...Christianity versus Marxism."

Natural Science & Evolution: the Science Magic & Pagan Religion of Sophistical Naturalists

By the close of WW II, Richard Weaver and countless other classical liberals, progressives, socialists, communists and Christian intellectuals apprehensively discerned that the Western civilized nations were on the road to breakdown and totalitarianism. Suffering "progressive disillusionment," Weaver was led to ponder the fallacies of modernist ideas that had produced the holocaust of evil visited upon the world from WW I to WW II. By late 1945, Weaver published his conclusions in his book, "Ideas Have Consequences."

The subject of Weaver's book was "the dissolution of the West." Its deterioration was traced by Weaver to the late 14th century when Churchmen and like-minded intellectuals had made an "evil decision."  Enticed by William of Occam's (d. c. 1349) philosophy of nominalism, they rebelled against transcendent "universals," thus the position that "there is a source of truth higher than, and independent of, man..." The consequences of this revolution in ideas were catastrophic:

"The denial of everything transcending experience means inevitably...the denial of truth. With the denial of objective truth there is no escape from the relativism of 'man is the measure of all things." (The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America, George H. Nash, pp. 30-33)

As the downward spiral continued the Holy God was conceptually murdered, the supernatural dimension shut-down and a one-dimensional view of Nature held up as the supreme reality. The Genesis account of creation ex nihilo was eclipsed by evolution and the doctrine of original sin replaced by the "goodness of man." With only the physical world of the senses held to be real, supernatural Christianity declined, sophistry arose and natural science became the most prestigious way to study man. With knowledge limited to the sensory realm, man's spiritual attributes (soul/spirit, mind, conscience, will), were soon lost in an endless cycle of biological reductionism and determinism. Man, created in the spiritual likeness of his living, personal Creator would be lost. In his place would stand the soulless human ape, an accidental emergent product of mindless evolutionary energy.

Weaver dubbed this way of thinking the "spoiled-child psychology" of modern man who had "not been made to see the relationship between reward and effort." This orgy of mindlessness is traceable to certain terrible-willed modernists who, no longer wanting to be created in the spiritual likeness of their Creator, had failed to achieve an integrated world picture, a "metaphysical dream," said Weaver.

Weaver concluded with an ominous warning:

"…the closer man stands to ruin, the duller grows his realization (for) the annihilation of spiritual being precedes the destruction of temple walls." (The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America, George H. Nash, pp. 30-33)

What this means with respect to man is that natural science methodically reduces soul to body (matter/DNA), spirit (mind) to grey matter and the cognitive abilities of mind (i.e., reason, memory, will) to movement of chemicals and firing of neurons in grey matter.  Furthermore, as everything is subject to the animated law of evolution, then everything from the Bible, creation ex nihilo, Jesus Christ, Heaven, hell, Christian faith, transcendent truth and moral law, the two created sexes, the Constitution, unalienable rights, and our nation’s sovereignty must be subjected to change because all things spontaneously emanate from matter in motion.  Thus Corliss Lamont declares that within the worldview of humanist naturalism,

There is no place…for either immortality or God (because naturalism) contends that instead of the gods creating the cosmos, the cosmos, in the individualized form of human beings giving rein to their imagination, created the gods.”  (The Philosophy of Humanism, 1982)

In other words, as everything spontaneously emanates from animated matter (the cosmos)  and man is animated matter in an individualized human form then his imagination is a curious product of animated cosmos (thinking chemicals and neurons) making god an evolving product of cosmos working within the cosmic imagination of cosmic man.

Ninety years before Richard Weaver sounded his ominous warning, the 19th century Danish philosopher and theologian Soren Kierkegaard (1813-1855) was one of the most systematically and clear-eyed enemies of natural science.  His assertion that the sophistical naturalist mind is in fact the inability of spiritually dead natural man to transcend the natural dimension is an abbreviated and precise definition of natural science.

In “The Present Age,” Kierkegaard’s cutting satire aimed at natural science, he scornfully calls it “the increasing mass of drivel which is called science….”  Invoking the authority of Socrates he writes:

If the natural sciences had been developed in Socrates day as they are now, all the sophists would have been scientists.  One would have hung a microscope outside his shop in order to attract custom, and then would have had a sign painted saying, ‘Learn and see through a giant microscope how a man thinks’ (and on reading the advertisement Socrates would have said: ‘that is how men who do not think behave.’) (Aeschliman, p. 30, 31)

It is impossible for us to understand natural science and its primary doctrine evolution unless we see it through the worldview lens of the pantheist/materialist occult magic and animism that emerged out of the Renaissance.

In his two books, “The Occult Underground: The Dawn of the New Age” and “The Occult Establishment,” historian James Webb chronicles the rise of an occult intelligentsia together with natural science and evolution as it emerged out of the Renaissance, a spiritually traumatic time when many Churchmen and Christian intellectuals eagerly embraced mystical Cabalism, the doctrine of emanation, Hermeticism, Buddhism, alchemy, Gnosticism, reincarnation and evolution sweeping into Christendom at that time.   Webb’s book, “The Occult Underground” was originally called “Flight from Reason” because Renaissance apostates had turned back to occultism, the science of magic.

Under the term occultism are included various practices broadly categorized as animism, astrology, divination (called channeling today), fetishism, and shamanism. Underlying all of these is magic.

Magic, or goetia, is generally understood to be an interference with the normal 'way things work' in the course of nature. It is the ancient practice whose goal is to acquire godlike powers by breaking the created order of nature with the goal of unpatterning and undesigning its patterns and designs so as to uncreate creation and then replace the broken created order with a second reality which is really an illusion.

Generally this is done by way of alchemical formulas and speaking magic words (invocations, incantations), through gestures, secret rituals, and other mysterious actions knowable only to magicians, wizards, gurus, god-men, shamans, witches, sorcerers, and other such adepts who claim to possess deep inner-gnosis and even psychic powers.

Natural science and/or methodological naturalism and Darwinism are forms of goetia that break and unpattern the patterns of creation.  This process begins with the inversion of creation and the breaking and unpatterning of the substance of God so as to redistribute His Divine Substance throughout nature. The end result is pantheism/animism.  In a similar fashion, Imago Dei is broken and unpatterned as God’s spiritual image bearer so as to further endow brute matter with man’s spiritual endowments.

In Disraeli’s novel Lothair, the Monsignore describes what has become of man after sophistical naturalists have broken and unpatterned him:

Instead of Adam, our ancestry is traced to the most grotesque of creatures; thought is phosphorous, the soul complex nerves, and our moral sense a secretion of sugar.” (Aeschliman. P. 33)

The return to the ancient science of magic chronicled by Webb produced two currents of animism: Eastern/occult pantheism and reincarnation and scientific materialism and/or natural science and evolution.

Essentially, animism is an ancient superstition holding that not only is all of nature and/or matter animated — including both living and non-living things — but that the animating force or spirit conveys power and influence. Western New Age occult-pantheism speaks of the animating spirit of evolution as the angel Lucifer, while its secular counterpart, scientific materialism speaks of miracle-producing ‘thinking’ energies or even the seething energies of Lucifer that subject everything to change, cause matter to think, choose, and act; cause god to emerge from cosmos, animate and inform memes, genes, chance, causation, determinism, DNA, chemicals and neurons, for example.

Furthermore, all religions and belief systems are true because an animated divine-force suffuses and energizes all things.  By extension of this perverse reasoning, Gaia is alive, and Gnosticism, Satanism, Wicca, Theosophy, and Sharia are true.  This is syncretism (moral relativism), the uniting of good and evil, truth and lie, the holy and the unholy.  R.J. Rushdoony writes:

"Now syncretism is destructive of the human mind, of rationality...(A) man who wants to unite good and evil...has lost the capacity for clear thinking.  His mind is darkened, clouded, fuzzed over, and incompetent....Man, by presuming to be god, has by that act destroyed the possibility of true thinking; from so radically false a premise, no valid conclusion can follow."  ("Why Is Rick Warren Waffling?" Lee Duigon, Chalcedon)

Animism: the Mystical Energy of Matter and Evolution

Enrico Ferri (1856-1926), a prominent socialist of his day, and an Italian criminologist who for many years was the editor of Avanti, a socialist daily. Writing in "Socialism and Religious Beliefs," Ferri excitedly babbles about the miracle-producing ‘thinking’ energies animating nonliving ideological systems such as socialism.  Note that he endows natural or positive science with divine 'choice-making' ability:

"....modern positive science...has substituted the conception of natural causality for the conception of miracles and divinity....I add that not only is Darwinism not contrary to socialism, but that it forms one of its fundamental scientific premises. As Virchow justly remarked, socialism is nothing else than the logical and vital outcome partly of Darwinism and partly of Spencerian evolution."  (www.marxists.org/archive/ferri/1894/religion.htm)

In the following example, Gustav Wetter expounds on the magical force animating, perfecting and informing nonliving thinking or dialectical matter,

"...matter itself continually attains to higher perfection under its own power, thanks to indwelling dialectic...the dialectical materialists attribution of 'dialectic' to matter confers on it, not mental attributes only, but even divine ones." (Dialectical Materialism, Gustav A. Wetter, 1977, p. 58)

After much thought C.S. Lewis concluded that natural science and its primary doctrine evolution is devised not to seek truth but to keep God (and the supernatural half of reality) out:

More disquieting still is Professor D.M.S. Watson’s defense. “Evolution itself,” he wrote, “is accepted by zoologists not because it has been observed to occur or...can be proved by logically coherent evidence to be true, but because the only alternative, special creation, is clearly incredible.” Has it come to that? Does the whole vast structure of modern naturalism depend not on positive evidence but simply on an a priori metaphysical prejudice. Was it devised not to get in facts but to keep out God?” (CS Lewis, The Oxford Socratic Club, 1944)

As Kierkegaard perceptively observed, natural science and its primary doctrine evolution are the inventions of the sophistical mind of natural man (i.e., America’s ruling class) who worships and serves animated matter and unseen forces rather than the living Holy Creator Who created matter and rational life. For this reason, Lewis’s conclusions placed him squarely among the growing ranks of anti-natural science and evolution blasphemers.

Goetia: the Magic Way of Meeting the Devil

'Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them.

In verse 7 Saul orders his servants to find for him a woman who is a medium, a channeler of spirits, despite having previously put mediums out of the land.

The goal is to evoke evil spirits and demons, "bind them by conjurations, words of power, magical weapons and threats of damnation, and command them to do the magician's bidding." (Goetia and Theurgy, magic black and white?  Heterodoxology)

According to New Age historians, goetia was the royal art practiced by the initiates of the Mystery Religion of Atlantis that was preserved on the plains of Shinar and then dispersed throughout the world.  It includes the invocation of angels and evocation of demons for purposes of personal power such as healing power, the ability to see the future, transfiguration, translocation, aggressive magic, dematerialization,  levitation, defensive magic, apports (making objects appear),  deports (opposite of apport), spiritist miracles and spiritist appartions. (Occult ABC, Kurt Koch, pp. 223-236)

The occult explosion in the heart of Christendom during the time of the Renaissance resulted in an obsession with goetia resulting in the appearance of many grimoire such as The Lesser Key of Solomon, which features an Ars Goetia as its first section. It contains descriptions of the evocation of seventy-two demons, famously edited by Aleister Crowley in 1904 as The Book of the Goetia of Solomon the King.     Goetic Theurgy, another practice described in the Lesser Key of Solomon, is similar to the book's description of Goetia, but is used to invoke aerial spirits.

Goetia leads to the opening of the inner or mind's eye, described by practitioners of the occult as the third eye through which perception of the world is not limited to the physical senses.

The Old Testament prophet Isaiah said we must choose who we will seek and serve.  The options are plain.  We can either seek the living Triune God Creator of heaven and earth or seek after physic powers from Beelzebul, which is why the occult path is extremely dangerous and often fatal.

 1) suicide (justified by the desire to experience the "wonders of the other world");

2) the destruction of families through adulterous liaisons or divorce among those who accept a belief in reincarnation (these were justified because psychic revelations indicated the new partner was one’s "soul mate" in a previous lifetime and hence the perfect "karmic partner" for this life),

3) major financial loss through the deception of fraudulent mediums, (justified by vital instructions from the "other side");

4) serious mental illness from various causes; and 5) bogus exorcists who financially prey on the gullible for "deliverance." (ibid, ankerberg.org)

The infernal cost of the magic way of meeting the devil is very high,

"The cost of indulging in magic is extremely high. Every example drawn from counselling work of Christians reveals the terrifying effects"  (Kurt Koch, Between Christ and Satan, p. 89)
