I Am the Alpha and Omega (Rev. 22: 13-21); Outside the Gates is Eternal Torment (Rev. 21:8; 22: 15)

" I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,  and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!  The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen."  Revelation 22: 18-21 ESV

The bookends of Biblical theology are Genesis and Revelation, and it is in Rev. 22: 18-22 that our Savior Jesus Christ Creator of all things seen and unseen ex nihilo (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16) bears witness that no mere human may add to or take away from the Revealed Word without incurring the plagues described in the book of Revelation. As the faith of the Christian Church and of the average Christian has had, and still has, its foundation as much in the literal and historic meaning of Genesis, the book of beginnings revealed 'mouth to mouth' by the Angel to Moses, as in that of the person and deity of Jesus Christ,  Moses also warned against adding to or subtracting from the Lord's commands (Deut. 4: 2; 12:37).

The evolutionary thinking so very popular with progressive Christians like Pope Francis and Reformed theologian Tim Keller and many others subtracts from the book of Genesis thereby subtracting from, hence diminishing the sixty-six books of the Bible.  In the words of Rev. C. Leopold Clarke, a lecturer at the London Bible College over eighty years ago, priests who embrace evolution are apostates from the 'Truth as it is in Jesus.' (1 John2:2)  Evolution is the antithesis to the Revelation of God in the Deity of Jesus Christ, thus it is the greatest and most active agent of moral and spiritual disintegration:

"It is a battering-ram of unbelief – a sapping and mining operation that intends to blow Religion sky-high. The one thing which the human mind demands in its conception of God, is that, being Almighty, He works sovereignly and miraculously – and this is the thing with which Evolution dispenses....Already a tremendous effect, on a wide scale has been produced by the impact of this teaching – an effect which can only be likened to the...collapse of foundations..." (Evolution and the Break-Up of Christendom, Philip Bell, creation.com, Nov. 27, 2012)

The primary tactic employed by priests eager to accommodate themselves and the Church to modern science and evolutionary thinking is predictable. It is the argument that evolution is entirely compatible with the Bible when we see Genesis, especially the first three chapters, in a non-literal, non-historical context. This is the argument embraced and advanced by Pope Francis, Tim Keller, et al.

This is not a heresy unique to modern times. The early Church Fathers dealt with this damnable heresy as well, counting it among the heretical tendencies of the Origenists. Fourth-century Fathers such as John Chrysostom, Basil the Great and Ephraim the Syrian, all of whom wrote commentaries on Genesis, specifically warned against treating Genesis as an unhistorical myth or allegory. John Chrysostom strongly warned against paying heed to these heretics,

"...let us stop up our hearing against them, and let us believe the Divine Scripture, and following what is written in it, let us strive to preserve in our souls sound dogmas." (Genesis, Creation, and Early Man, Fr. Seraphim Rose, p. 31)

As St. Cyril of Alexandria wrote, higher theological, spiritual meaning is founded upon humble, simple faith in the literal and historic meaning of Genesis and one cannot apprehend rightly the Scriptures without believing in the historical reality of the events and people they describe. (ibid, Seraphim Rose, p. 40, emphasis added)

"And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed."   (Luke 2: 34-35)

Jesus Christ will be divisive. On one hand His preached Word will be the touchstone of humble men's characters, thereby revealing the secret good affections in their minds.  On the other, He will be a Sign that is opposed by the haughty and arrogant, thereby revealing the secret corruptions of their thoughts and enmity to Christ.  Thus the haughty and arrogant will oppose His doctrine, rail against  His people and deny and blaspheme His truth and holiness.   In this way the secret thoughts in the hearts of all men who worship and serve the images of their own minds (Psalm 97: 7) will be revealed, be put to shame, and judged concerning Christ.  Thus Jesus Christ is appointed for the fall of the haughty and arrogant and the salvation of the humble.

Therefore, blessed is the man who does not place his trust in haughty, arrogant theologians who stray after lies such as evolutionary science (Psalm 40: 4-5).  Stand firm, persevere, do not throw away your confidence:

"it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised."  (Hebrews 10:35-36)

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last," (Rev. 22:13 ESV) the beginning (Genesis, John 1:1) and the end (Revelation).

Outside the gates of eternal life in God's City is eternal torment reserved for the haughty, arrogant and all who love Satanic falsehood, sensuality, and murder. (Rev. 21: 8; 22:15 ESV)

In short, blessed is the humble man who trusts in the Lord because "Father knows best."
