In "Obama the Climate Bully Pounds the Pulpit in Paris," Calvin Beisner writes that during Obama's sermon at the UN climate summit in Paris Monday, the President—"the same President who travels the world apologizing for his country"—played the classic American bully running roughshod over other world leaders, the truth, logic and reality. But this is to be expected from a classic narcissist like Obama, a man with a Messiah complex that could boast that his inauguration as President was when the oceans stopped rising. In his Commentary on Psalm 33/2, 8, St. Augustine notes that a dirty house (depraved conscience) is the miserable condition of all whose inflexible pride makes them refuse to face their own conscience lest they be overwhelmed by the wickedness they find there. (Day by Day with Saint Augustine, Donald X. Burt, p. 107)
The narcissistic man or woman is a self-righteous hypocrite, a narcissistic bully of inflexible pride who believes he or she is morally superior to other people. Such a person refuses to tolerate the knowledge of his or her own weaknesses, failings, and sinfulness, thus is constantly engaged in trampling over and bullying other people into submission and sweeping the evidence of their own remarkably consistent sins under the rug of their conscience in order to preserve their carefully constructed public facades.
Narcissists have feelings of invulnerability and as they believe they can get away with anything---even breaking the law-- they engage in greater and greater risks such as telling whopping lies and running roughshod over other world leaders. This serves two purposes: to prove they are in fact superior and to maintain the 'high' they receive from getting away with their transgressions.
All of this is why as the saying goes, "pride goes before a fall" because mans' sin nature, particularly his pride, blinds him (or her) to reality. Thus it can be said that as narcissists are blind to the shameful spectacles they make of themselves while foolishly dancing on the edge of the abyss they are also willfully blind to the shock and disgust of other people and the danger of falling in because they have willfully chosen ignorance.
In "The Word of Flux" reformed theologian Rousas John Rushdoony tells us that the reason for man's willful choice of ignorance rather than Truth and reality is sin:
"The epistemological problem has roots in a false metaphysics, but both alike stem from a moral choice, man's sinful desire to be his own god....In reality, sin is man's rebellion against the law of God and man's attempt to be his own god, to replace God's Word with man's word." (The Word of Flux, p. 51)
St. Augustine agrees. Pride, said Augustine, is not only the beginning of all sin but its' downfall as well. This is because pride eventually forces the narcissist to make a shameful spectacle of himself before other people--- even before TV cameras and world leaders. Blinded by pride the foolish narcissist such as Obama cannot see that through his bullying, lies, superior attitude and other contemptuous behavior he has been made to openly confess to the inner wickedness he refuses to admit the existence of, thus his narcissism is his downfall since it forces him to publicly declare the very secrets he wants to hide from himself and the world.
