1 Kings 18:21--Scientific Neutrality, Biblical Deconstruction, & Modernist Christians

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6  "...in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." Colossians 2:9

John 1:10 tells us that everything seen and unseen was created ex nihilo by the spoken Word of the Son of God, which means that Jesus Christ was active and present long before His incarnation, therefore eternally co-existent with the Father. (1) Jesus Christ is therefore God just as the Father and Holy Spirit are God, thus the Word of the Old Testament's creation account is Jesus Christ of the New Testament.  Jesus Christ is the Word.   His Word is Truth even as He Himself is Truth, the same today as yesterday and for always.  Thus Jesus Christ does not change and as He is the starting point for the reasoning of the faithful, then  Christians must reject the neutrality principle and doubt, its' ugly twin, the long unchallenged principles in evolutionary modernism's longstanding war against the Word of God---the Book of Genesis in particular---in all its parts... historical, prophetical, geographical, linguistic, and doctrinal. (2)

When Paul affirms in the Lord that his Gentile readers should no longer live as Gentile pagans do in the futility of their darkened minds (Ephesians 4: 17-24), he speaks to all pagans from antiquity to our own age (i.e., neo-pagan modernists) who reject the pure knowledge of the Holy Trinity and vainly think of themselves as "enlightened" when in reality they are "en-darkened."  Their ignorance is not a lack of education, and some of them are brilliant in their own way, but such brilliance is wasted on vain imaginings and wisdom of this world which will not get them to heaven, thus utterly foolish and futile, especially when combined with hardness of heart toward the truth of the gospel in Christ (Matt. 13:14-15; John 12:40; Acts 28: 26; Rom. 11:8)

"En-darkened" modernists claim scientific neutrality as a general operating assumption. Two applications of modernist thought evidence this:  evolution (anti-creation account/relentless change/relativism), an inverted exegesis that deconstructs and reduces man in the spiritual image of the Trinity to evolved ape, and deconstructionism (destructive criticism/critical theory). Along with evolution, deconstructionism is a form of relativism or nihilism that for more than eighty years has been spilling into and contaminating our moral and culture sustaining institutions from seminaries and Biblical scholarship to academia, law, media, arts, and politics, thence our minds, individually and collectively. (2)

The origin of the neutrality principle is the Garden of Eden. Its' father is the Evil One who tempted Eve to approach the question of eating from the forbidden tree in a neutral, unbiased fashion.  He slyly suggested  that she adopt a neutral position in order to decide who was right, God or the snake.   Like modernists of our own age Eve doubted and therefore rejected God's Word as authoritative and conclusive.  As a true neutralist she determined for herself which choice to take. (Gen. 3:4-6)

Todays' Christian Church and Western culture has for so long been saturated with evolutionary modernist claims of scientific neutrality paired with intellectual and moral autonomy that the ungodly neutrality principle which forbids the existence of immutable Truth and moral absolutes has been thoroughly ingrained in us. It is so constant and we are so accustomed to it that even within the church we fail to discern it.

Neutrality Principle, Deconstructionism & the Historical-Critical Method

For evolutionary modernists of both pagan and pantheist persuasion to choose to not believe the Word of God on an individual level is one thing.  But in the past few hundred years the world has been witnessing a strange yet consistent phenomenon:  institutionalized Biblical deconstructionism issuing in a concerted drive,

"on an institutional level to rubbish the Scriptures altogether.  It is nothing new of course.  It's just the scale of the enterprise which takes the breath away. And it's not just international. It's global."  (The Authenticity of the Book of Genesis, Bill Cooper, p. 7)

The first Biblical deconstructionists---the ancient "fathers" of today's Biblical deconstructionists---were various Gnostic pagans in the first centuries of the Christian era.

The methodology employed by the early Gnostic pagan Marcion for example, was to masquerade as a scholar concerned only for truth while really getting rid of everything he was offended by, especially the entire Old Testament which he deconstructed by reducing in its entirety to an unhistorical myth.   In a nutshell, this is the same method employed by modern Biblical deconstructionists.

Fourth-century Fathers such as John Chrysostom, Basil the Great and Ephraim the Syrian, all of whom wrote commentaries on Genesis, specifically warned against treating Genesis as an unhistorical myth or allegory. John Chrysostom strongly warned against paying heed to Gnostic heretics,

"...let us stop up our hearing against them, and let us believe the Divine Scripture, and following what is written in it, let us strive to preserve in our souls sound dogmas." (Genesis, Creation, and Early Man, Fr. Seraphim Rose, p. 31)

As St. Cyril of Alexandria wrote, higher theological, spiritual meaning is founded upon humble, simple faith in the literal and historic elements of Genesis as Revealed by God and one cannot apprehend rightly the Scriptures without believing in the historical reality of the events and people they describe. (ibid, Seraphim Rose, p. 40)

Today it is commonplace for resuscitated Gnostic deconstructionism, otherwise known as the historical-critical method of Biblical scholarship, to be regarded as scientific, thus enlightened, neutral and objective.  Recent decades however, have witnessed a much needed rising awareness that the historical-critical method serves particular ends thus always arrives at certain conclusions.  In the meticulously researched work of intellectual history, "Politicizing the Bible," Scott Hahn and Benjamin Wiker greatly add to this awareness by bringing to  light the appropriation, deconstruction and paganization of scripture by politically motivated interpreters.

Shining a powerful light of truth on the techniques taken for granted at divinity schools worldwide, Hahn and Wiker trace the origins of the modern historical-critical method deep into the Middle Ages and the Renaissance "showing the deliberate Erastian project of subjecting the Bible and with it the Christian faith to the power of the State." (4)

Through painstaking research Hahn and Wiker clearly demonstrate that the historical-critical method is grounded in the philosophy of Averroes, the writings of Machiavelli and Marsilio of Padua among others, together with the political projects of Henry VIII, Thomas Hobbes, and John Locke, and the quest for an empire of science on the part of Descartes and Spinoza.

The authors argue that nothing can be rightly understood about the historical-critical method and the politicization of Scripture if close attention is not paid to the great cosmological shift that occurred in the seventeenth century.  What the shift yielded was both a secular (anti-supernatural and wholly naturalistic or pagan) understanding of the universe, philosophy and scientific method and a secular-pagan understanding of man and politics:

"The two occur as part of one revolution because the shift in the meaning of nature includes human nature as well." (p. 257)

With respect to the work of modern scriptural scholars, the great shift means that in order to comprehend the assumptions and methods of their own craft they have to understand the history of the philosophy and science grounded in the cosmological shift.

As a synopsis of the monumental philosophical and scientific shift and its' abominable effects on modern biblical scholarship and Christianity, Hahn and Wiker offer the following example from the highly influential nineteenth century scriptural scholar David Friedrich Strauss.  Strauss is almost invariably the first of the modern critiques studied in the typical survey course taken by students of Scripture in graduate school.   The key introductory chapter of Strauss's "Life of Jesus Christ Critically Examined" is entitled "Development of the Mythical Point of View."   In it Strauss declares,

"...matter-of-factly that an 'account is not historical,' and hence 'the matter related could not have taken place in the manner described,' wherein 'the narration is irreconcilable with the known and universal laws which govern the course of events.   Now according to these laws, agreeing with all just philosophical conceptions and all credible experience, the absolute cause never disturbs the chain of secondary causes by single arbitrary actions of interposition." (pp. 257-258)

In other words, miracles (i.e., creation ex nihilo, Christ's Resurrection) cannot happen.  For Strauss, the exegetical assumption that miracles are fictions is based on naturalistic philosophical-scientific assumptions.

Underlying Strauss's assumptions is an entirely naturalistic (secular-pagan), self-generating machine-like cosmos, a mathematical-mechanical view of the evolving universe, an idol of defiant, rebellious mans' mind in continual antagonism to the supernatural Judeo-Christian cosmology.

It was Descartes, Hobbes, and Spinoza who redefined nature so that it was ontologically mathematical and mechanical, thereby paving the way for the universe to be entirely law-governed, self-contained (closed to the supernatural), self-sustaining, mechanical and evolutionary.  This view necessitated that the active, living, creating, and redeeming Holy God of Old and New Testament be redefined as a deistic god that created matter, mechanical mechanisms and formative evolutionary processes that over time allows things to make themselves,  or a divine evolutionary force (pantheism) within nature, or be simply rejected by the more radical of the radical Enlightenment. (pp. 272-273 &544)

In the "new pagan" god-man centered cosmology, the gap between the Mind of God and the mind of man, and the supernatural and natural were closed.  Thereafter, the exalted mind of the god-man and the content of the mathematical-mechanical universe defined what method was appropriate to its illumination:

"If the universe is fundamentally mathematical and mechanical, then of course the method of illumination must be mathematical and mechanical. " (p. 545)

In the god- man centered universe, the redefined God's wisdom does not exceed man's wisdom.  This being so, Unitarianism, liberal Protestant theology, Roman Catholic Teilhardism, evolutionary theism, Hugh Ross's vastly popular progressive creationism, and all other forms of evolutionary Christianity as well as New Age pantheism are the products of the exalted wisdom of god-men who adopted a man-centered universe entirely in accord with their own capacities.

The approach to the Word of God followed suit, meaning that an evolutionary modernist understanding completely defines the 'new' approach to the interpretative deconstruction of the Bible:

"Since miracles had been excised from nature, they had to be removed from the text.  Since nature was entirely defined by mathematics, knowledge of mathematical-mechanical laws displaced prophecy, and so prophecy had to be removed from the text.  In fact, since there was, with pantheism, assumed to be an identity of the logos of nature with the Logos of God, scientists who studied the logos of nature provided the highest revelation possible, thereby demoting the revelation contained in the Bible as at best puerile.  All that was left, so it seemed, was the moral message of the text, and the focus on the Bible as merely moral reinforced its politicization." (p. 544)

All that is left is a desacralized book of moral messages for evolutionary modernist Christian intellectuals such as columnist Ross Douthat, leading Richard Dawkins to ridicule him for bracketing "Biblical fundamentalists" with atheists and accusing both of making the same mistake,

"...of thinking that the correct way to read the Bible is literally, as do Ken Ham or Al Mohler." (Ross Douthat doesn't understand atheism, Richard Dawkins, Oct. 5, 2011, whyevolutionistrue.com)

Douthat criticizes New Atheism said Dawkins, for thinking that we go after only the fundamentalist version of religion while "ignoring the sophisticated versions propounded by sophisticated theologians like John Haught and sophisticated intellectuals like himself" who see much of the Bible, particularly the Genesis account as metaphor.  Douthat makes this clear in a New York Times article:

"It was a peculiar spectacle, to put it mildly: An atheist [Coyne] attacking a traditionalist believer [Shea] for not reading Genesis literally. On the merits, Coyne is of course quite correct that some of the details of the Genesis story seem to contradict what science and archaeology suggest about human origins. (For instance, the claim that Adam and Eve were formed from the dust of the ground and a human rib, respectively, not from millennia upon millennia of evolution, the suggestion that they lived in a garden near the Tigris and the Euphrates, not a hunter-gatherer community in Africa, and  well, you get the idea.) But then again some of the details of the Genesis story seem to contradict one another as well, in ways that should inspire even a reader who knows nothing about the controversies surrounding evolution to suspect that what he's reading isn't intended as a literal and complete natural history of the human race." (Why Atheists Need Fundamentalists, Douthat, Oct. 4, 2011, New York Times)

Dawkins zeros in on the contradictions in Douthats' argument, pointing out that if Ken Ham, Dr. Albert Mohler, and other faithful believers, or 'fundamentalists' as Douthat labels them did not take the,

"...stories pretty literally, including the tales of Noah and the flood, the Genesis stories, the tale of Adam and Eve and their Original Sin, and, of course, the whole Jesus mythology (then) we'd have no creationism in America, and the story of Jesus would be a convenient fairy tale, like that of Santa Claus, rather than an object of universal veneration." (ibid)

Exposing Douthats' double-mindedness, Dawkins argues that while much of the Bible is dismissively relegated to the category of fanciful metaphor by Douthat,

"I'm sure that when he goes to Mass each week he recites the Nicene Creed, affirming his belief in these truths:

" Jesus is the son of God – God is the creator of heaven and earth – Jesus was the product of a virgin birth – The crucified Jesus was resurrected – Jesus will come again to judge us all – Our sins will be remitted through baptism – There's an afterlife for the good folks."

Dawkins then asks,

"Tell me, Mr. Douthat: are those allegories, too? When you mouth them in Church each week, are you saying what you really believe? If not, why do you call yourself a Catholic?" (ibid)

Douthats' embarrassing peccadillo exemplifies that of increasing numbers of modernist theologians, intellectuals and Christians throughout the whole body of the church who waver between serving the Lord and serving Baal:

"And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word."  1 Kings 18:21

In 1 Thess. 2:13 the Apostle Paul summarizes and clarifies the issue at hand, which is whether the Revealed Word of God is received by the Christian Church as the word of "enlightened" men or "for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe."

“Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge?....Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation?  Tell me, if you understand."  Job 38: 2-4

Dear reader, who do you place your faith in?   Is it in pride-inflated foolish modernists who with their scissors have cut apart the Bible and with their words without knowledge and vain pretensions set themselves up against the knowledge of our Lord?  They are the blind leading the blind into hell.  Or is it in the Lord Whose Word is Truth, even as He Himself is Truth, our Lord and Savior Who,

"if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved?"  Romans 10:9

The Lawless One: Psychopath Par Excellence

Roy Hazelwood was one of the original profilers when the Behavioral Science Unit was first developed at Quantico. He served with the FBI for twenty-two years, taught courses at the Academy, the University of Virginia, the University of Pennsylvania, the U. S. Military Police CID, the Southern Police Institute and is also a board certified forensic examiner and a commentator for The Forensic Echo.  Hazelwood is now Affiliate Professor of Administrative Justice at George Mason University and has appeared as an expert on criminal investigations on numerous radio and television shows.

In his book, "Dark Dreams" Hazelwood discusses an infinite number of deviant sexual behaviors, different combinations of sexual behaviors and dark fantasies that can be merged into a single crime. In the chapter titled, "The Infinity of Darkness" he examines the role that fantasy plays in sexual crimes and how offenders act out those fantasies using wives, girlfriends, and other human prey as well as inanimate objects. Other chapters deal with bringing the fantasy to reality in various criminal activities such as sexual sadism, serial murder, serial rape and, of course, profiling of possible prey.

One of his favorite chapters is titled "Am I God?"  It deals with the role of narcissism in sexual crimes and with one particular criminal who wrote a lengthy manuscript in which he described four murders in detail, and because of his power over life and death, questioned whether or not he was God. (Roy Hazelwood: Profiler of Sexual Crimes trutv.com)

Hazelwood observes that most successful sexual sadists are narcissists who believe they are superior to society in general and law enforcement in particular. They come to believe they can't get caught, so they engage in greater and greater risk taking. This serves two purposes: to prove they are superior and to maintain the "high" they get from committing crimes.

As a Christian, Hazelwoods' profound insight into the mind of sexual sadists is grounded in St. Augustine's view of man as the three-part spiritual image-bearer of the Holy Triune God as well as his teaching on sin, which Augustine says is not caused by the flesh (bodily/soulish senses) but by the spirit (intellect, will). Thus all sin is of a spiritual nature said Augustine.

Hazelwood studied St. Augustine's writings where he spoke of the five steps that men and women take to act in a sinful way. Sin originates in the intellect (spirit), and then moves to the senses for approval. The consequences are considered, the will makes a decision to act, and the mind rationalizes the behavior. Hazelwood realized that if he replaced the word 'sin' with the word 'crime' he could apply it to his work and lectures:

"The sexual criminal fantasizes about a criminal act, and if the idea is pleasing to his senses, touch, sight, etc. he considers the consequences of what might happen and then decides to act. Finally, he rationalizes his behavior for having committed the crime...I wouldn't have done it if..."

Hazelwood adds that:

"....sexual fantasy is nothing more than the mental imagery of a desired event. You conjure up in your mind something you want to do. Fortunately for society, most of us do not act on those fantasies. Yet some do, with horrendous results."

Sexual sadism is a spiritual problem, therefore Hazelwood discounts current criminal reform treatment programs.  These programs are grounded in the erroneous Darwinian idea that man is an evolved ape together with Freuds' fatalistic explanation that anger, perversion, rage, jealousy, hatred, envy, and other destructive impulses are caused by chemical changes in the brain, genetic neurological predispositions and social factors in upbringing.

The truth about sexual sadism is that it is freely chosen "immediate gratification" said Hazelwood, adding that he once asked a serial rapist,

"If the death penalty was the punishment for your crime, would you still have committed the offense?' He told me that he would have."

Sexual sadism, said Hazelwood, is a rationalized willful choice that,

"...goes back to the idea that there are no absolutes, the infinity of darkness."

Sexual sadism belongs to the category known today as psychopathy. Psychopaths are sometimes described as conscienceless, meaning their conscience is so filthy and polluted it is in effect dead. As conscience is a component of spirit,  talk-therapy, medications and other reform methods are unable to cleanse and reawaken conscience.

Psychopaths are manipulative, meaning that because they hold other people in contempt, they freely use them for purposes of self-gratification. Other common characteristics include: narcissism, moral relativism (no absolutes), sense of entitlement, parasitism, bullying, casual cruelty, pleasure at inflicting pain, insensitivity, dishonesty, pathological lying, aggression, impulsiveness, and irresponsibility .

The Scientific American reports with alarm that psychpaths are,

"....overrepresented in prisons (and) research also suggests that a sizable number of psychopaths may be walking among us in everyday life. Some investigators have even speculated that "successful psychopath” (meaning) those who attain prominent positions in society may be overrepresented in certain occupations, such as politics, business and entertainment." (What "Psychopath" Means)

And let us not overlook the authors of the article, 'After-birth abortion: Why should the baby live?" Dr. Alberto Giubilini and Dr Francesca Minerva, who with a total lack of conscience, empathy, and remorse, cold-bloodedly advised that:

"Parents should be allowed to have newborn babies killed as it is no different from abortion (because they) are not 'actual persons' and do not have a 'moral right to life..." ("Killing of newborn babies is acceptable, say doctors," independent.ie)

If instead of "psychopath" the phrase "lawless natural man" is used, then we have a description of the evil-state of spiritually dead men in the last days:

"For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy." 2 Tim. 3:2, KJB

Lawless natural men have,

"... have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face…. (Ezekiel 14:3)

Lawless natural man will be irresistibly drawn to and captivated by the Lawless One, Satan's earthly representative.  The Lawless One is the psychopath par excellence described by Paul as the 'man of iniquity, son of perdition.' He is the son of the Evil One because he has espoused the spirit of the devil. The great philosophical and theological scholar Vladimir Soloviev describes him as,

"...a remarkable man---many called him superhuman...He believed in God (as did Marx, Nietzsche and Teilhard de Chardin), but at the bottom of his heart (he) preferred himself to Him. (Yahwah) knew that he would bow down before the powers of evil, as soon as it had corrupted him...by caressing his boundless pride." At the beginning, the Antichrist "had no hostility toward Jesus...but (like Mahomet) he saw in Him merely the greatest of his own predecessors." Since I have superceded Him, "I am the perfect and final savior. The first Christ was my forerunner...(therefore, why should I) have to bow before Him like the most stupid of Christians...I, the bright genius, the superman! No, never!"  (Wrath of God, Livio Fanzaga, pp. 36-37, 40, emphasis added)

His unbounded pride, defiance, arrogant conceit, contempt and moral relativism are characteristic of his perversity and the reason for his unbelief in the Holy Triune God. He in fact believes that he is God incarnate among men. He is a man of modern evolutionary scientism--- the powerful instruments of his will by which he worships himself, makes himself equal to God and holds the power of life and death in his hands.  He is a powerful seducer, so powerful in fact that even believers will be deceived if possible.

The Lawless One suffers the same envy of God that transformed Lucifer into a demon, the Evil One, the father of all psychopaths. The sin of Lucifer (and of Hegel, Karl Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler) was that he could not abide the idea of God's existence since he wished to become God. The Lawless One's sin ( Nietzsches) consists in being unable to tolerate the idea that Jesus Christ, a greater man than himself exists.

Spiritual sin, beginning with pride, jealousy and covetousness quickly inflating to envy, are the common bonds linking Satan, with increasing numbers of his earthly representatives, from the Lawless One to all who have been infected with the same venom of the serpent.

Voodoo: Satanic Source of Rock and Christian Rock

Religion has been the foundation stone and source of higher ethics for every civilization that has ever existed.   When the foundation is destroyed  society disintegrates and dies.  The dying culture actually annihilates itself as it falls into institutionalized Satanism in its' every manifestation:  break-down of family, hedonism, rebelliousness issuing in rejection of truth, rules, standards and authority whether Divine or temporal;  sexual perversions, pre-occupation with self and personal power, moral relativism, irrationalism, the occult, decadence, pornography, violence, and killing.

Cultures which have lost their spiritual roots are dying cultures, and this is the case with the post-Christian West and America, which even now is witnessing the collapse of its' Christian denominations and higher moral law.  In the resulting soulless wasteland:

"The power and violence of the satanic is something which youngsters bereft of hope, and with a stunted conscience, can easily gravitate.  Children who find it difficult to identify a coherent value system, or who were raised with no values at all, still must identify with something...All children---and in a very large sense teenagers are yet children----give heed to the feeling of a Higher Power.  Troubled and abused youngsters, through a sort of insidious imprinting of experience, believe the Higher Power must be evil.  Heavy metal affirms this 'theology' and institutionalizes it in the music." (Painted Black, Carl A. Raschke, p. 275)

Carl Raschke is  Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Denver, specializing in  Continental philosophy, the philosophy of religion and the theory of  religion.   He is an internationally  known writer and academic who has authored numerous books and hundreds of  articles on topics ranging from postmodernism to popular religion and culture  to technology and society.  He is also a leading authority on America's subculture of darkness, which he fully documents in his landmark book, "Painted Black."

Raschke's chilling book presents the frightening facts and cases behind an invisible wave of evil sweeping over our dying culture,  capturing our youth by their minds and parents by their hearts.  In part three he documents the epidemic of violence connected to fantasy role-playing games and heavy metal music, "audio pornography at extreme decibels:'

"The strains of violence, fury, hate, insurrection, primitive sex, and, as the kids call it, 'head-banging' in heavy metal music cements a neural bond with all stripes of alienated adolescence.  The incitement of heavy metal....is markedly increased when an adolescent abuses drugs (for then) the music instantly becomes the most impressive furniture in the mental housing of chemically dependent youth. The chemically dependent adolescent adopts a life-style of swagger, brutality, theft, and sexual-excess---all of which is reinforced by the yowling and bellowing of the metal groups." (pp. 274, 276)

Satanic Source of Rock Music

In his 1984 book, "The Secret Power of Music," secular researcher David Tame traces rock music to its' satanic source in Africa as well as revealing  extensive scientific research demonstrating the destructive effects of rock music on both mind and  body :

"Were we to scour the globe in search of the most aggressively  malevolent and unmistakably evil music in existence, it is more than likely  that nothing would be found anywhere to surpass voodoo  in these attributes ... as the rhythmic accompaniment to satanic rituals and  orgies, voodoo is the quintessence of tonal evil. ... Its multiple rhythms,  rather than uniting into an integrated whole, are performed in a certain kind  of conflict with one another. ... What is certain is that to hear this music  is to become instantly encompassed by the sound of its raw, livid power. ...  Musicologists and historians are in no doubt that the drum rhythms of Africa  were carried to America and were transmitted and translated into the style of  music which became known as jazz. Since jazz and the blues were the parents of rock and roll, this also means that there exists a direct line of descent from the voodoo ceremonies of Africa, through jazz, to rock and roll and all other forms of rock music today." (pp. 189-190)

Tame reveals that rock music affects digestion, internal secretions, circulation, nutrition, respiration and neural networks of the brain:

"Researchers have discovered that consonant and dissonant chords,  different intervals, and other features of music all  exert a profound effect upon man's pulse and respiration -- upon their rate  and upon whether their rhythm is constant, or interrupted and jumpy. Blood  pressure is lowered by sustained chords and raised by crisp, repeated ones. ...It has also been found that the tension of the larynx is affected by  melodies, that sound stimuli can have a negative effect upon the skeletal  muscles, that rock rhythms cause the heart beat to lose its perfect rhythm,  and that certain rhythms can even cause a rare malady known as "musicogenic  epilepsy"  with which some of its  victims have been tormented to the point of committing suicide or murder. ... We can see, then, that music affects the body in two distinct ways: directly, as the effect of sound upon the cells and organs, and indirectly, by affecting the emotions, which then in turn influence numerous bodily processes."   (p. 137)

Musicologist Alice Monsarrat points out that it,

"....is precisely at this point that rock 'n' roll ... becomes potentially  dangerous. This is because, to maintain a sense of well-being and integration,  it is essential that man is not subjected too much to any rhythms not in  accord with his natural bodily rhythms" (ibid, p. 199)

Tame writes that like human nature itself, music cannot possibly be neutral in its  spiritual direction,

"... ultimately all uses of tone  and all musical lyrics can be classified according to their  spiritual direction, upward or downward. ... To put it plainly, music tends to  be of either the darkness or of the light."   "In his famous work, Laws, Plato lamented the musical revolution of his time and its "unmusical  anarchy": 'Through foolishness they deceived themselves into  thinking that there was no right or wrong in music -- that it was to be judged  good or bad by the pleasure it gave. By their work and their theories they  infected the masses with the presumption to think themselves adequate judges.  ... As it was, the criterion was not music, but a reputation for promiscuous  cleverness and a spirit of law-breaking" (pp. 187, 189).

With a clear-eyed discernment  lacking in most  Christians today, Tame concludes,

"More than any  other form of the misuse of sound, it is rock with which we must deal today.  ... It is a global phenomenon; a pounding, pounding destructive beat which is  heard from America and Western Europe to Africa and Asia. Its effect upon the  soul is to make nigh-impossible the true inner silence and peace necessary for  the contemplation of eternal verities. ... How necessary is it in this age for some to have the courage to be the ones who are 'different,' and to separate themselves out from the pack who long ago sold their lives and personalities to this sound....I adamantly believe that rock in all its forms is a critical problem which our civilization must get to grips...if it wishes long to survive." (p. 204)

Noted German theologian Kurt Koch (1913-1987) agrees with David Tames conclusions.  An expert in the occult, Koch pastored and counseled those suffering from occult oppression in its various forms in 65 countries and 5 continents.  In "Occult ABC: Exposing Occult Practices and Ideologies,"  Koch writes that from his travels in South America and Africa, he learned first-hand that rock music is the kind of music used in cultic dances:

"Primitive people dance themselves into a frenzy to such music, often ending in sexual orgies." (p. 180)

Koch observes that there is a kind of music which uplifts and a kind which destroys all that is good and drags people down, and this includes Christian rock music:

"There is a music which has divine inspiration, and music which has demonic inspiration." (p. 181)

Ex-rocker Bob Larsen  concurs:

"(rock music) has a spirit which comes from dark and muddy waters.  It cannot be cleansed and used for the Holy Spirit." (Koch, p. 182)

After leaving his rock music days behind, Larsen became an evangelist.  When he spoke to rock fans he found they agreed, saying,

"You are on the right track.  Go on as you are.  We all feel something of the demonism of this music." (p. 182)

But when he spoke in churches, where truth and spiritual discernment should be found, he was attacked.    In a sign of the times in which we live, spiritually blind Christians will teach about spiritual warfare even while assuring evangelists like Larsen that rock music,

"...can be used for the gospel, too." (p. 182)

Koch notes that Larsen's discovery that where the truth ought to be found, it is rejected, and where it is not expected it is accepted, means nothing less than that a rock fan is nearer to the kingdom of God than some elders of the church.  This is a present-day version,

"...of the words of Jesus, 'The tax-gatherers and prostitutes go into the kingdom of God sooner than the hypocritical Pharisees." (p. 182)

As David Tame reveals,  there exists a direct line of descent from the voodoo ceremonies of Africa, through jazz, to rock and roll and all other forms of rock music today.  And this includes Christian rock, which like its' parent is not of the Holy Spirit but of an unholy spirit.  This is why it causes confusion, anger, contention, and division among Christians, said Gordon Sears in his booklet, "Is Today's Christian Music 'Sacred'?"

If Christian rock is of God, as many Christians contend,  then asks Sears, why is it:

(1) ....causing so much confusion and division among Christians?

(2) Why is it not received by all orthodox Bible-believing churches?

(3) Why is it readily accepted by the non-Christian world? The ungodly  never accepted the old Christian hymns

(4) Why is it that Bible-denying universities and popular secular TV  entertainment shows invite well-known Christian artists to give concerts with  Christian rock? This never happened with the great spiritual hymns

(5) Why are there hundreds of churches with godly pastors across America  that strictly reject it and forbid it in their services?

(6) Why does it have such a strong effect upon the physical body?

Speaking of the growing divisions among Americans and between Christians, David Tame observes that in contemporary American society there stands in one corner the ancients and in the other the traditionalists.  Traditionalists hold  that music affects character and society, therefore the artist has a  duty to be morally responsible and constructive, not immoral and destructive.  Standing in the opposite corner against the traditionalists, are the morally relative ancients (neo-pagans, pantheists)  disclaiming personal responsibility and need  for moral judgments, and paying no heed to the consequences of their yowling, disharmonious sounds.

The second  camp contains not only the antinomian progressive avant-garde, but the entire mass of American moral relativists, both within and without the Church.

Kurt Koch is not surprised by any of this.  He writes that the Bible tells us that in latter days people will give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons:

"...demons are capable of finding people to speak through.  Many rock musicians have allowed themselves to be used as the mouthpieces of demons." (Occult ABC, p. 182)

Satanic influence is very strong in the popular music field, said Koch.   And undiscerning Christians have brought it right into God's House where it divides Christians and hastens both the death of the Church and the foundation-stone of American society.
