What Are The Odds?
By Ron Ewart

What are the odds that we can re-claim freedom from the clutches of socialism, radical environmentalism, and the onslaught of the one-world-order? What are our chances of convincing the masses that the path they have chosen, leads to enslavement, and that they are already there? How is it possible to change a mindset that exists in the majority of the population, created by government promises of a "free lunch," or saving the environment at any cost, including our very freedom? If our children are being indoctrinated and brainwashed in our schools and colleges, do we have any chance of getting the next generation to see the light? If a person or a family gets a check every month from the all-benevolent government, what is the likelihood that we can convince that person or family that what they are receiving is not only not free, but is making them a dependent (ward) of government and sapping their individual strength and independence? If we continue to allow the hordes of illegal aliens to flood into this country with a socialist mindset, and grant them amnesty, how will we offset their votes to stop the socialism they will bring? How do we overcome a strong and powerful media bias that opposes freedom and endorses government control and abuse?
These are tough questions to ponder and for those of us in "the game" of attempting to restore freedom and liberty, they are the questions we ask every day. Why should any of us waste our time and resources if so few care, or are willing to do anything about it, or support those who are? We constantly ask, have we gone beyond the point of recovery? In spite of these valid questions with uncertain answers, most of us are in this fight because we are absolutely convinced that it is the right thing to do for America, for freedom, and for our children and grandchildren.
But, let's put the problem in perspective. It took us 100-to-150 years to get to where we are today. Reversing that course won't happen overnight. There are three ways to change the direction we are headed. Our "enemy" is wealthy, powerful, and politically influential, so no matter what direction we take, it will require large masses of people of like mind, and millions, if not billions of dollars. If the masses and the money are not there, it is quite likely we will lose.
- We can use the current "system" to effect the changes. We can use the legislative and judicial processes to our advantage. That won't come cheap.Â
- We can raise the level of awareness of the issues to get the enlightened to rise up in massive protests, all across the country. To educate those people to that level won't come cheap either.Â
- Or we can rise up in armed revolution against our government, and that is the most expensive method of all, not only in money, but in blood, chaos and turmoil. Method 3 has the least likelihood of success.Â
Nevertheless, in spite of this doom and gloom scenario, in spite of the almost impossible chances of success, for the first time we are encouraged. For the first time, we see the proverbial "light" at the end of the tunnel. All across America, the message of freedom is growing, albeit significantly tardy. New organizations are sprouting up almost every day and they are adding to the other voices that are screaming "something is dreadfully wrong, what can we do?" New information is being instantly transmitted via the internet and e-mail. Never before has a movement such as ours been so benefited by technology, especially with the advent of e-mail and internet blogs. But, we must remember that technology can be used for good or evil, and we must always be on the lookout for the erroneous information that permeates the web, or the ever-present propaganda, lies and distortions.
We are especially encouraged by the rise of such powerful coalitions like Freedom21, which gives a platform for the resounding voices of hundreds of writers and speakers of freedom messages, and to Tom DeWeese's American Policy Center that provides factual information on government excesses, and the very active Klamath Falls Bucket Brigade, who took on the environmentalists and commercial fishermen, and won some significant victories. Then there is Jeffrey Bennett's Federal Observer website and radio program that broadcasts freedom daily, and the venerable "One Nation United" who tirelessly exposes Indian gaming racketeering and influence peddling. Everywhere across this great land, the cry of freedom is moving faster and stronger, like a wind-driven grass fire. We intend to add our voice to this song of liberty, well into the future.
As another measure of our progress, we are also encouraged by the response to NARLO's website, and the calls and e-mails we are getting from as far away as Florida. We are located in Washington State. We have sold our "No Trespassing" signs in many states, and one woman called and wants to start a NARLO chapter in Florida. Our "No Trespassing" signs are now hanging on property fences, posts, and trees in Washington, California, Nevada, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Florida. A dog registry magazine called us and wants to advertise our "No Trespassing" signs in their magazine for the benefit of their readers, at no charge to us. Our articles are being picked up by new national venues almost every day.
Even so, there is still a great amount of work to be done to educate the masses. But the freedom movement's constant messages spread out far and wide, like a continental dust storm. These messages continue to remove the blinders from more and more Americans every day, and these Americans are "seeing" for the first time. So many good Americans have surrounded themselves within an opaque bubble and have tuned out the world. It is our horrendous job to burst that bubble and give these folks 20/20 "vision" on the meaning of freedom and liberty, and the price we must pay to preserve them.
In a previous message I said: "We are all dancing to the government's drummer, and they laugh all the way to the bank. In their minds and on their lips they say, "We own you!" And of course they do, for now." Until we are no longer pawns, until we stop dancing to "their tune," until we stop playing "their game," until we start resisting this travesty of Constitutional injustice with all of our might, we are nothing but slaves to government and they sarcastically smile at our docility. The change will be gut-wrenching, but change we must, if freedom and liberty are in our and our children's future.
"Never doubt for one moment that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead
To emphasize my strong passion to resist an unjust, out-of-control government, let me close with a copyrighted poem I wrote a while ago.
If they restrain me, I shall resist By Ron Ewart, President NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RURAL LANDOWNERS Copyright June 14, 2006 - All Rights Reserved
If they try to restrain me, I shall resist. If they shackle me, I shall break free.
If they try to break my will I shall be stronger still. If they hound me, I shall turn on them and chase them into the night.
If they try to enslave me, I shall yell freedom until the whole world hears my cry. If they would try to take my land, I shall rise up with my neighbors and smite them.
If they would take my money and waste it They shall get no more. If they violate their oath To preserve, protect and defend our Constitution, They have lost all honor and we can no longer trust them.
So all of courage that would join me, Walk with me on the path to freedom. Help me sound the alarm bell for liberty. Let it ring out across this great land of ours As it spreads its powerful message of "DON'T TREAD ON ME."
For you and I are Americans And it is time to rise up, my friends. They are trying to restrain us and steal our freedom. It is our sworn duty to resist them, by whatever means.
"YOUR MONEY IS GOVERNMENT'S ONLY POWER OVER YOU: Only when the people realize that their tax money is being used to socially and environmentally enslave them; only when the people realize that their tax money is being used to "feed" a growing population of other people dipping their bills in the government "pig trough" and those "takers" voting for those very same politicians who take our tax money by force to keep the "trough" full; only when the people realize that our government is using our tax money to merge America into the one-world-order; only when the people realize that the only way to stop this insanity is to resist government in every way possible, will principled changes ever occur. The first power that government has over you is your perception that your money is their money. The second power that government has over you is by using the money they take from you by force, against you. When you know this, freedom could be in your grasp." Ron Ewart
