Excerpt: I was working and listening to late night talk-radio last Thursday – a program usually focused on aliens and the supernatural. However, that evening the host talked about students refusing to say "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. As always, he avoided saying anything controversial, but one caller, a shy-sounding woman, talked about her view. It had nothing to do with the country or custom or patriotism or even the concept or belief in God.
She fancied herself a liberated mom as she spoke of her young child, and how if ever he wanted to refuse to utter those "under God" words in the pledge, she would support that.
