After an envoy of "progressive" members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) traveled to Cuba to kiss the ring finger of murderous dictator Fidel Castro, President Barack Hussein Obama attended a Summit of the Americas conference in Trinidad.
While at this conference, he accepted an anti-American book from Venezuelan tyrant Hugo Chavez and later gave him a warm handshake – three times. He also shook the hand of Daniel Ortega, a former terrorist who is now president of Nicaragua. Obama indicated that he'd be open to talks with Raul Castro.*
Communist Daniel Ortega trashed America and capitalism during his speech at the Summit. Obama's reaction was to laugh and joke about the speech after it was over. Obama apologized for America's past relationship with Latin America and said the U.S. would be an equal partner with its Latin American neighbors.
Obama has described Hugo Chavez's efforts to spread Marxism throughout the rest of Latin America as "a source of concern." But, Obama thinks it's the right thing to do to engage Chavez. He seeks "frank dialogue" on a "range of issues."
So, what exactly is Chavez doing in Latin America that seems to be of such minor concern to President Obama?
Well, for starters, he has openly declared that he's "been very Maoist all of my life" and is an ally of Communist China, North Korea and Cuba.
He has organized Cuban activists to create thousands of armed civilians in a private militia that can be used to enforce his edicts in Venezuela.
Chavez has also maintained contacts with terrorist nations in the Middle East, including Al-Qaeda.
Chavez is helping export terrorism and subversion throughout Latin America in an alliance with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia (FARC).
In a ceremony at Tehran University in 2006, Iranian dictator Mahoud Ahmadinejad awarded Chavez the Islamic Republic Medal, that nation's highest honor. During his speech, Chavez said, "Let's save the human race, let's finish off the U.S. Empire."
This seems to call for a bit more than "concern" from President Obama. Frankly, I doubt Obama can charm Chavez into loving America, unless, of course, Obama turns America into a Marxist state – the kind favored by Chavez and his Communist and Islamic allies around the globe.
* Raul is Fidel's ruthless brother who now runs the concentration camp known as Cuba. Raul is said to be more ruthless than Fidel, which is difficult to imagine. Raul worked with the Soviet KGB in the 1950s and has headed up the Cuban army, including military intelligence and Cuba's domestic spy network to suppress dissidents.
