Pete Chagnon - OneNewsNow - 5/12/2009 5:30:00 AM The former director general of Pakistan Meteorological Services says the only hope for mankind is to populate another planet.
According to TheNews.com, Professor Syed Amir Ahmed Kazmi believes that if global warming is allowed to continue, mankind will be destroyed in two centuries either by natural disaster or nuclear war. He adds that the only hope for the human race is to find and populate an Earth-like planet within the next 50 years.
But Marc Morano of ClimateDepot.com says Kazmi is not the only one making bizarre predictions.
"Stephen Hawking out of the U.K. is another one who actually was quoted in Leonardo DiCaprio's film, talking about the temperature of the Earth getting to several hundred degrees Celsius," he notes. "We have James Lovelock in the U.K. -- the father of the Gaia-Movement [and] one of the most esteemed scientists in the U.K. -- who's now near 90 or maybe over 90 [years old], who's basically saying that global warming is going to be so bad there's only going to be a few dozen humans left and they are going to be breeding in the arctic because that's going to be the only place cool enough to survive
According to Morano, such extreme predictions are not based on science but are based on hysteria. He adds that those predictions are cries for attention because people are losing interest in alleged "man-made climate change." He believes the bizarre predictions are also causing centrist politicians to back away from the issue as well.
