'Queen Nancy's airline'

Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 2/3/2010 10:05:00 am A public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption has obtained documents revealing that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi spent more than $2 million of the taxpayers' money to fly in military jets around the world.

Judicial Watch recently released more than 2,000 pages of Department of Defense documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act that detail Speaker Pelosi's travel expenses on Air Force planes during the past two years. Spokesman Chris Farrell says the tab was stunning, revealing that she had spent roughly "$2,100,000 and some change." He adds that "out of that outrageous total, over $100,000 of those costs have been for in-flight entertainment for food -- and for alcohol, mostly."

The Judicial Watch spokesman finds it clear that Pelosi is abusing the privilege she has been given to fly on secure military aircraft rather than on commercial planes like other members of Congress.

"Due to security considerations post 9/11, she should have secure travel and secure communications," Farrell agrees. "We don't object to that so much as to her taking that privilege and turning it into a sense of entitlement. This is really Queen Nancy's airline now."

The Mississippi-based American Family Association released an Action Alert on Tuesday urging citizens to contact their representatives on Capitol Hill, demanding a stop to such abuses of taxpayer dollars.
