Totalitarians & Liberals on the Founder's Political Spectrum

Commentary: Much confusion reigns today because we think in terms of a left-right dichotomy. To clear the air, we ought to think in terms of the Founder's rather ingenious political spectrum.

On the Founder's spectrum, the far left denotes all totalitarians, whether they are termed dictators, oligarchs, statists or something else. On the far right are all anarchists. Anarchists (today's liberals) want complete license to do whatever they want to do.

Occupying the middle area of the spectrum are the Founding generation and today's orthodox Conservatives. Because these individuals are both intellectually and morally mature they are capable of self-governance, which means that their Mr. Hyde impulses do not control them but rather the reverse, they control their dark impulses. In light of this, these individuals seek just enough government to protect rights and liberty but not too little that anarchy ensues.

Using the Founder's spectrum, totalitarians such as Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Fidel, George Soros, green enviros, Obama's Czars, and Obama, for example, would be on the far left. On the right would be all who want license to do whatever their out-of-control impulses and compulsions compel them to do, hence they would be for example, sexual revolutionaries (ie., gays), militant atheists, and flag-burning America-haters.

Historically, far left and far right factions unite in opposition against middle-of-the-spectrum individuals who seek liberty in a morally ordered atmosphere.

This makes sense really, for as middle-of-the-spectrum people are those who are most intellectually and morally mature, which allows them to be capable of self-governance, they represent true adulthood, authority, and order, which things the other two factions hate and are in rebellion against. The other two factions then, are united by their lack of impulse control, or incapacity for self-governance. Anarchists are generally the most intellectually and morally immature while totalitarians are the Mr. Hydes of whom Lord Acton said: "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

In other words, in reaching for absolute power, they become immeasurably corrupt.

In short, both far left and far right are united by their Mr. Hyde dark sides and by a subsequent unholy lust for dominance over others. This equates to Pride of Mind, Pride of Flesh, and Pride of Life.
