The Rise and Fall of America

Sanity is the ability to recognize right from wrong independently of personal feelings, fears, impulses, desires, and compulsions. Rational thinking then, is reasoning disciplined to resist the corrupting influence of personal feelings, thus allowing for the acceptance of truths that contradict feelings, desires, and fancies. In short, rational thinking is morally-informed reasoning. It is dispassionate, rightly-ordered, and logical and is the fruit of impulse-control and unswerving commitment to enduring truths, moral law, and principle. Irrational reasoning is the opposite. Irrationality is the inability to recognize right from wrong independent of personal feelings, impulses, and compulsions. By the degree to which the moral sense is corrupt, so too is reason. The greater the degree of corruption, the more depraved is reason.(quote source: When Evil has Destroyed the Foundations, What are the Righteous to Do?)

As nations are comprised of individual people it makes sense that when the majority of people are morally informed and self-controlled, the nation as a whole is morally sane, rational, decent, and a defender of individual liberty. The reverse is also true, for when the majority of people have fallen into corruption---selfishness and greed---the nation as a whole is corrupt: indecent, morally insane, irrational, increasingly tyrannical (ie., political correctness) and thereby doomed to eventual bondage.

In his 1983 book "It's Your Choice," author Warren T. Hackett quoted emminent historian Arnold Toynbee who observed that the Western civilized nations rose on the wings of spiritual faith (Christianity), but through abandonment of its' spiritual roots, the West was moving inexorably to its death through a fatal sequence of events:

"The release of initiative and enterprise made possible by self-government ultimately generates disintegrating forces from with. Again and again, after freedom brings opportunity and some degree of plenty, the competant become selfish, luxury-loving and complacent; the incompetant and unfortunate grow envious and covetous; and all three groups turn aside from the hard road of freedom to worship the golden calf of economic security. The historical cycle seems to be: from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to apathy; from apathy to dependancy; and from dependency back to bondage once more." (

That America is in a serious state of decline is undeniable to all morally sane Americans. Today it is a madhouse of turbulence, contention, pathological lying, greed, hedonism, and institutional breakdown. No longer is any man’s property, reputation, children, or liberty secure. Moral virtue, intellectual abilities, politics, education, science, and law have become moulded into a system of subordination to the stupidity, the hedonistic pleasures, the capricious will, and the sadistic cruelty of a majority of Americans who are out-of-control and morally insane. At every level of society, from the highest corridors of power to the lowest levels of society, today's America suffers from an epidemic of narcissism:

"...the United States is currently suffering from an epidemic of narcissism," insist Jean M. Twenge, Ph.D., and W. Keith Campbell, Ph.D., in 'The Narcissism Epidemic: Living in the Age of Entitlement.' 'American culture's focus on self-admiration has caused a flight from reality to the land of grandiose fantasy.'" (How Evil Works, David Kupelian, p. 80)

Whose Fault?

Large numbers of Americans are blaming President Obama for America's national crisis. But Obama and his zealous socialist insiders are but a handful of people out of a citizenry of over three-hundred million. Ultimately, Obama and his cohorts are not the problem but are rather the result of the real problem.

The real problem is the majority of Americans who vote for corrupt leaders such as Barney Franks, the Kennedy's, Nancy Pelosi, Obama, RINOs and the hedonists who comprise the Log Cabin Republicans and GOProud. The really frightening reality then, is that the majority of American voters either cannot see or do not care about where such people will lead our nation.

The Point of No Return?

America in particular and the West in general appear to have reached the point of no return. Why? Because the politician who promises the greatest entitlements, or who can massage the over-inflated egos of the majority narcissists is always elected. Consequently, America and the West are systematically collapsing from unbridled government spending to feed an unending demand for largesse from the public treasury while the moral absolutes, fixed meaning and enduring principles undergirding America's Constitution and Rule of Law have been subordinated and inverted to allow for power-grabbing and unconstitutional rights.

So the real problem is not Obama, who is only an outward expression of the real problem. The real problem is that the majority of Americans are out-of-control, morally insane, and irrational. Led by their own selfish desires they are not concerned with what is true and right but with what they want or need in order to feel good about themselves. Selfishness has led the majority to turn their backs on the spiritual faith that gave birth to the Western civilized nations and America in particular. In short, Westerners have rejected the supernatural God and His immutable Truth and unchanging standards that gave our forefathers courage, liberty, and great abundance.

Unless Americans and Westerners return to their spiritual roots, the fatal sequence of events outlined by Toynbee will roll on unabated. Increasing narcissism will lead to increasing apathy and dependency which in turn will doom America and the West to total breakdown. From breakdown we will be sent into bondage, perhaps to radical Imams and Sharia.
