Liberalism's Rationale for Cowardice

Having descended into the hell of Gulag and then arisen as the great Christian prophet of the 20th century, ex-Communist atheist Alexandr Solzhenitsyn remarked that: "...if asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: "Men have forgotten God; that's why all this has happened."

Russians had forgotten God the Father, and now the Western civilized world treads the very same highway to hell said Solzhenitsyn, for just as happened in Russia, the West has lost its courage:

" A decline in courage (is) the most striking feature that an outside observer notices in the West today. The Western world has lost its civic courage, both as a whole and separately, in each country, in each government, in each political party, the United Nations. Such a decline in courage is particularly noticeable among the ruling and intellectual elites, causing an impression of a loss in courage by the entire society. There are many courageous individuals, but they have no determining influence on public life."

Having rejected God the Father, atheist and agnostic Westerners no longer have a moral compass, hence:

" Political and intellectual functionaries exhibit this depression, passivity, and perplexity in their actions and statements, and even more so in their self-serving rationales as to how realistic, reasonable, and intellectually and even morally justified it is to base state policies on weakness and cowardice." The decline in courage attains to "...what could be termed a lack of manhood..." Weak, cowardly, morally insane functionaries:

"...get tongue-tied and paralyzed when they deal with powerful governments and threatening forces, with aggressors and international terrorists." Must one point out that "...from ancient times a decline in courage has been considered the first symptom of the end?"

In the Western civilized world the "tilt of freedom toward evil has come about gradually.." First came the temptation to conceptually murder God the Father. Then came the temptation to accept as true "...a humanistic and benevolent concept according to which man---the master of the world---does not bear any evil within himself, and all the defects of life are caused by misguided social systems, which must therefore be corrected."

In short, man is sinless. Like God, he stands outside and above right and wrong, good and evil, for man is god.

Men however, are not gods, but self-deluded narcissistic fools calling themselves gods. And the decaying powers of weakness, cowardice, and moral insanity emmanating from them are rotting the West and America in particular from within. Where once America was described as a bright, shining city on a hill---a beacon of liberty---today there is a darkened husk....a madhouse run by the inmates.

From borders left unprotected, to sympathy for criminals at the expense of their victims and the building of a mosque at Ground Zero in the name of tolerance, examples of what Solzhenitsyn termed "rationales for cowardice" abound and are everywhere accompanied by a monotonous drumbeat of demonization, for if you are a morally-informed, common-sense, courageous defender of Western and American tradition, then you are evil.

For the morally insane and cowardly to accuse the morally sane and courageous of evil requires a peculiarly tortured and morally inverted reasoning process on display for instance, in a typical accusation leveled by Liberals against defenders of Israel. Say Liberals to defenders of Israel, "You are fascistic, biggotted Israel-firsters who don't care that you put our young troops in mortal danger."

Even though the covetous, resentful eyes of Israel's much larger, encircling neighbors unflinchingly gaze with burning animosity upon the tiny nation of Israel, desirous of both its' destruction and the death of its' citizens, Liberals are nevertheless driven to exhort against both Israel's self-defense and America's defense of Israel. In other words, according to their morally bankrupt rationale for cowardice:

"To defend Israel is to hate Muslims and endanger our troops, so in order to not be thought of as hateful bigots and to keep our troops safe, we must throw Israel to the wolves."

Underlying this rationale for cowardice is a tacit confession. It states:

"The 'humanistic and benevolent concept according to which man---the master of the world---does not bear any evil within himself' is false, for the truth is that all men really are both kindly Dr. Jekyll and evil Mr. Hyde. If men are not Jekyll-Hyde, then Liberals have no reason to fear Muslim extremists. However, it is precisely because they are Jekyll-Hydes that Liberals fear them. In short, the Biblical view of man as 'fallen' is the correct view."

As the Biblical view of man is the true view, the Founders of America's Constitutional Republic put checks and balances into place precisely because all men are Jekyll-Hyde:

"...there is a degree of depravity in mankind which requires a certain degree of circumspection and distrust..." noted James Madison in Federalist No. 55, 1788.

The Liberal's rationalization for cowardice builds off of his unwitting confession. It says:

"Even though we outwardly deny the truth, within our own minds we really do know that we are both Jekyll and resentful, evil Mr. Hyde. Knowing this, we also know as well that there are Mr. Hydes who are far worse than we are." Knowing of the evil inside ourselves, it therefore follows that, "If we look the wrong way at or otherwise displease these ferociously resentful, covetous Mr. Hydes, they will hurt us," or as cowardly, dissembling Liberals put it, "our troops (we) will be in mortal danger."

Therefore, so the rationale for cowardice goes, "It is safer by far to not only crawl, scrape, abase ourselves and give to monstrously evil Mr. Hyde whatever he wants whenever he wants it, but also to beat down those people possessed of the courage to take a stand against these fearsome Mr. Hydes."

In other words, "Cowardice is safer than courage---the first of all virtues."

In response to the moral insanity of Liberals and their rationales for cowardice, men of virtue admonish:

"He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it." Martin Luther King, Jr. (source:
