Tyranny Vigilant In a free society, all men are created equal in that, all persons are born free. I submit this is a more correct and even more altruistic statement than simply, All Men are Created Equal. Because we’re not.
Your time and your skills are yours. You own them. They belong to you and are your private property.
If you trade what belongs to you, be it a bicycle or your time and skills, any compensation you receive from another for the bicycle or your time and skills is yours. This is trade.
If you ask your neighbor to mow your lawn and in turn, you’ll make them dinner, you have engaged in trade. They worked for you and the dinner you made them is payment for their time and skills.
If your employer asks you to “work†for them and then compensates you with “moneyâ€, then the money is payment for your time and skills. You have engaged in trade. This is nothing more and nothing less than fair and equitable trade as agreed upon between two private citizens. There is no magical pot of resources for anyone else to take anything from. Your time and your skills are yours. You own them. They belong to you and are your private property and anything you trade for them is just as much your private property.
It is immoral and criminal for a group of people to come together and “democratically†vote that it’s ok to allow the government to take the private property from one person to be given to another person or entity, under threat of force and violence if required, be that entity corporate or otherwise. One either believes in individual liberty or they don’t. And insisting that the taking of the private property from one person to be given to another person is ok under any circumstances is not demonstrative of the support of individual liberty.
If all men should be born free then, are they truly free if their private property is taken from them and given to someone else?
Bleeding hearts enable autocracy’s. Those who insist that government take from one to be given to another for any reason, grant those politicians who promise and fulfill these promises power.
We should instead give generously of our time and money to charity. And congratulate and elevate others who do as well.
This is the society we should create for ourselves. A society that truly cares for its weak. We should not become lazy and insist that a cold and faceless government do what we can and should do for ourselves without them. Those who do this give immense power to the wealthy and political elitist class. Those who do this should be shamed and ostracized.
For a group of people to come together and “democratically†vote that it’s ok to allow the government to take the private property from one person to be given to another under threat of force and violence if required, is immoral and criminal.
Similarly, to not give generously of your time and money to charity is immoral but, should never be criminal and those who refuse should never be forced to do so.
You either believe in individual liberty or you don’t. And insisting that the taking of the private property from one person to be given to another person is ok under any circumstances is not demonstrative of the support of individual liberty.
A society should not legislate morality. Morality should be defined, encouraged and rewarded by society. Conversely, do not celebrate the obscene and immoral of our society. Those who do this should be shamed and ostracized. Instead, elevate the charitable and moral heroes. Celebrate those who make differences in peoples’ lives and the sciences and all of those things which benefit society. Encourage the emulation of moral and just behavior. But again, do not legislate it.
This would be a truly progressive society. What we have today is the status quo. The corporate and personal welfare state is the status quo. It has been for at least a century in this nation and it grows.
Slaves by Choice
There is a class of people who fan the fires of jealousy and greed in society. Their success depends entirely on their ability to agitate certain segments of society and convince them of their victimhood and assure them that somebody else somewhere owes them something. And as politicians, they possess the power to grant them that something by taxing others. This ensures these politicians’ continued wealth and power through the votes of their dependent base. They call themselves “Progressiveâ€. These “Progressive†politicians legislate morality in accordance with what most profits them.
While one child may be born to wealth and have access to “superior†schooling, it is up to that child to take advantage of that schooling. Many don’t take advantage of it and fail. Some are cut off from the family wealth and some are allowed to leach from that wealth. Those who hold that wealth are at liberty to make these decisions. It’s not up to you, me or the government.
Another child may be born to poverty and have access to poor schooling. It is up to that child to take advantage of that schooling however substandard it may be. Many take advantage of what they have and are extraordinarily successful. I know of several exceptional individuals in my extended family who have done or are currently doing just this. Others don’t take advantage of it and fail and they don’t have family wealth to fall back upon. This is not your fault, my fault nor the governments fault nor is the fault of their environment as far too many in the same environment succeed for this to be the case.
If a persons parents choose to get in trouble, choose to ignore education and choose to avoid working hard to succeed, the offspring may very well have to struggle to succeed but, they can indeed succeed. The bad choices of another persons parents are not your fault, my fault nor the governments fault nor is the fault of their environment as far too many in the same environment succeed for this to be the case. Only one successful person emerging from poverty is sufficient evidence to contradict the charge that those born to poverty are destined to remain in poverty.
The preceding examples are facts. Because of this, it can soundly be insisted upon that the vast majority of Americans begin with an equal opportunity to succeed. If they don’t succeed, it is not your fault, my fault nor the governments fault nor is the fault of their environment as far too many in the exact same environment succeed for this to be the case. Furthermore, I submit that those who insist that people born to poverty are destined to remain in poverty do so to further their own power-seeking political ambitions. To place a people into a victim group then, pander for their support and their vote on a promise that they will provide them with that which they did not earn encourages those people to exist in a perpetual state of poverty and thereby provides an unending voting base of generational victims.
If you have ever been caught up in a government system you know that there is no compassion. There is no subjective opinion to consider your individual circumstances. There are only unbending rules and regulations. Welfare breeds dependence on this rigid system.
A slave is someone who toils and doesn’t receive equal compensation in return for their effort. A free person would be entitled to keep what they’ve received in return of fair trade. Because your private property is taken from you under threat of force and violence if required to be given to another, you are a slave. To reiterate: when your private property is taken from you in the form of taxation and you receive a service in return such as good roadways and police response then, this is fair trade.
If you acquire an education, work hard, stay out of trouble and subsequently, earn disproportionately more than other people in your society, and then, those other people come together and “democratically†vote that it’s ok to allow the government to take the private property from you to be given to another person or entity, under threat of force and violence if required, are you anything more than a slave? You’re certainly not free to keep your own private property under these conditions.
Politicians kiss babies but only for the vote. A politician who promises to provide welfare to individual people or corporations makes that promise of welfare with the clear intent of being elected. By being elected, they are reaping a profit from their promise to take the private property from one person to be given to another. Therefore, they are slave masters. They are also thieves as they profit in the form of political power and the benefits that come with that power granted them for the theft of another’s private property. And we’re enabling them.
