Tea Party Taking Aim At Establishment Republicans

Godfather Politics In the 2010 election, the TEA Party actively helped some Republicans win their primary elections. They heavily endorsed Sharon Angle to win in Nevada, Mike Lee to win in Utah, Joe Miller to win in Alaska and Christine O’Donnell in Delaware.

Once again, they are not only looking to endorse conservative Republicans in the 2012 primaries, but they have also announced that they intend to do whatever they can to unseat what they term as ‘Establishment’ Republicans who voted for the various stimulus packages including the Wall Street bailout.

In September, they announced that they intended to defeat Speaker of the House John Boehner from Ohio. They have targeted Boehner because he voted for the federal budget plan that included funding of Planned Parenthood.

Over the weekend, they announced that they were endorsing Richard Mourdock, Indiana State Treasurer in his primary run against Republican incumbent Richard Lugar. Lugar voted for the Wall Street bailouts and has often showed his disregard for the TEA Party.

As we move closer to 2012 and various state primaries, there are bound to be more incumbent Republicans that are going to find themselves facing TEA Party opposition due to their less fiscally responsible voting records.
