Among true Conservatives and other informed Americans, fear and dread are the constant companions of the coming presidential election. With very good reason, they fear that totalitarian socialism and/or communism will finally prevail over what is left of our liberties and rights. But what is Communism? Using the former Soviet Union as an example, Conservative thinker Frank Meyers describes it as,
"The state form taken by a materialist faith determined to rule the world." Communism or scientific materialism is "the final synthesis of all heretical tendencies that have pervaded Western civilization for many centuries." It is evolutionary materialist scientism of which,
"Communism is the culminating hubris of the Promethean man who reaches out for the world and means to remake creation. It is scientism gone political." (The Conservative Intellectual Movement, pp. 251-252)
Materialism belongs to the family of Naturalism (paganism), which refers to the view that nature is the Ultimate Substance of which the universe and all life are made, thus "all is one."
Ancient Greek Atomists such as the pagan philosopher Epicurus taught that the Ultimate Substance or “all that exists†is the void and matter and that human beings, their intelligence and volition, are an evolved accident of chance. Everything is void and matter, therefore first principles, eternal ideas, souls, spirits, divine reason and afterlife are absurdities. Only reason is left, but reason is active only because sensations (i.e., firing of neurons, chemical interactions) stimulate it.
Epicurus’s materialist teachings are the basis of all materialist systems ancient and modern. These include Marx's dialectical materialism, Scientific Socialism and scientific matierialism. The main doctrine of all contemporary materialist systems is Darwinian biological evolution.
Paganism is one-dimensional, meaning that it believes that only the natural dimension exists, a claim that automatically excludes the supernatural dimension. C. S. Lewis describes pagan naturalism as a box with its top sealed tightly closed in order to keep out the Triune God and the supernatural realm.
From the Assyrians to the Babylonians, Egyptians, Ionians, Stoics, Aztecs, Upanishads and Hindus, all were and are one-dimensional naturalists as opposed to Judeo-Christianity's creation model with its two interacting realms: natural and supernatural.
There are two basic kinds of pagan Naturalism: materialism (i.e., Scientific Socialism and/or Marxist Communism) and pantheism (i.e., Nazism, American Progressivism, Liberal Christianity, green eco-fascism, and occult New Age Spiritual Communism). The two kinds differ chiefly about whether the Absolute Substance is nonliving, non-intelligence bearing matter and void or an unknowing, unknowable, amoral mind, spirit substance or even a cosmic animal.
However, both kinds are united by their rejection of and hostility toward the transcendent, personal Triune God, the supernatural realm, and creation ex nihilo as well as by their acceptance of some form of evolution such as materialist Darwinism or Teilhard de Chardin's pantheist idea.
Evolution serves two primary functions. First, as an impersonal, mechanical process of development of either life or spirit over time in many different bodies and second, as an origins of life account. As Robert Jastrow (b. 1925), recipient of NASA's Medal for Exceptional Studies explains, there are only two possible explanations for the origin of life, evolution and supernatural creation:
"...science has no...answer to the question of the origin of life on earth. Perhaps (life) is a miracle. Scientists are reluctant to accept that view, but their choices are limited: either life was created...by the will of a being outside...scientific understanding, or it evolved...spontaneously through chemical reactions...in nonliving matter...The first theory...is a statement of faith in the power of a Supreme Being not subject to the laws of science. The second theory is also an act of faith (which assumes) that the scientific view...is correct, without having concrete evidence to support that belief." (Until the Sun Dies, Jastrow, 1977, pp. 62-63)
Marx and Engel's dialectical materialism is considered to be the most highly developed philosophy of materialism. It rests on three fundamental metaphysical presuppositions:
1. Deified Matter: The Ultimate Substance which, though non-living, non-intelligent, and non-conscious, nevertheless somehow possesses the emergent properties of life, mind, consciousness, and soul.
2. Evolution: Since Marxist dialectic requires a theory with clashes (thesis and antithesis) and leaps (synthesis), Marxists have all but abandoned Darwinism and instead embraced punctuated equilibrium. "Many people confound dialectic with the theory of evolution," noted G. Plekhanov. "Dialectic is, in fact, a theory of evolution. But it differs profoundly from the vulgar (Darwinian) theory of evolution." (Fundamental Problems of Marxism, 1929, p. 145)
3. Spontaneous Generation: An offshoot of specifically Darwinian thought accepted unreservedly by Marxists as their dialectic requires a strictly materialist explanation for the origin of life from dead matter. In the words of M.A. Leonov: "Marxist philosophical materialism remains beyond all doubt that at some time or other in the remote past, life must have arisen from non-living matter." (Outline of Dialectical Materialism, 1948, p. 494)
By setting all things in ceaseless, purposeless motion, materialism's requirement for continuous change constantly undermines and destroys all permanent things such as first principles, eternal ideas, souls, spirits, divine reason, after-life, moral law, family, boundaries, and limitations. Here in America, 'change' has virtually erased the Biblical-based first principles and absolutes undergirding and providing meaning and intent for our Founding Documents.
Materialism reduces man, his soul, and even his thoughts---to mindless atoms perpetually colliding with each other in a void. Man is a soulless, mindless machine whose reason is active only because natural sensations (i.e., firing of neurons, chemical interactions) stimulate it. For this reason Atomism/materialism has from its' inception been an antihuman abomination that attracts narcissistic human monsters whose sadistic enjoyment is in the control and domination of others. This unholy attraction finds expression in the following quotes:
Dialectical materialism states that man is nothing but "a colonial aggregation of cells," and to "consider him an individual would be an error." Man---the aggregate of cells--- is nothing but an extension of society, history, and earth. (Russian Textbook on Psychopolitics, Chapter II: The Constitution of Man as a Political Organism)
“Man was matter, that was Snowden's secret. Drop him out a window, and he'll fall. Set fire to him and he'll burn. Bury him and he'll rot, like other kinds of garbage. The spirit gone, man is garbage. That was Snowden's secret. Ripeness was all.†Joseph Heller, Catch-22
"We are descended from robots, and composed of robots..." --Daniel C. Dennett, Kinds of Minds
Chinese scholar Ssu-yii reported that materialist Darwinism was one of the key influences behind WWI and the Communist take-over of China:
"This great European war has nearly wiped out human civilization; although its causes were many, it must be said that the Darwinian theory had a very great influence. Even in China, where throughout a whole country, men struggle for power, grasp for gain, and seem to have gone crazy, although they understand nothing of scholarship, yet the things they say to shield themselves from condemnations are regularly drawn from Yen Fu's translation of T.H. Huxley's Principles of Evolution. One can see that the influence of theory on men's minds is enormous." (Ssu-yii Teng cited in The Long War Against God: The History and Impact of the Creation/Evolution Conflict, Dr. Henry Morris, p. 222)
Modern materialist states began by turning back to paganism, then rejecting the supernatural God and denying objective standards of right and wrong. They threw out sanctity of life and demonically reduced man to matter in motion. The end case in every instance, was to place absolute power over "atomized masses" into the hands of psychopaths and autocratic states to be wielded without restraint or mercy.
Of all belief systems, modern evolutionary neo-paganism (naturalism) has been by far the bloodiest. In his book, Death by Government, R.J. Rummel comprehensively details the roughly 170 million people murdered by materialist and pantheist governments during the 20th century. From 1917 to its collapse in 1991, the Soviet Union liquidated about 62 million. During Mao Tse-tung's reign, 35,236,000 were murdered. Hitler's Nazi's killed 21 million.
Even at its mildest, as is thus far the case here in America, there is a steady level of confiscation, corruption, fraud, and stifling of freedoms and free speech. For the first time ever, Americans are afraid of saying certain words. Parents fear disciplining their own children. More ominously, neo-pagan materialists and pantheists in control of America (i.e., ACLU, activist judges) have rejected the supernatural God and thrown out both sanctity of life and objective standards. "We the people" have been reduced to atomized beings. Totalitarianism and genocide loom just over our horizon.
Insanity and murder-inducing ideologies and doctrines such as scientific materialism, Darwinism, Teilhardism--- and the murderous utopian systems (i.e., communism) spawned by them are spiritual diseases of fallen men. The only cure is spiritual regeneration through submission to the supernatural God.
