Cornwall Alliance The Apostle Paul urges Christians in Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.†In 2 Corinthians 10:5 he tells us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
I confess I become not only discouraged but also sad when I see sincere, well-meaning evangelicals jump on current bandwagons of worldly thought. Rather than being transformed by the renewing of their minds by the Word of God, and so enabled to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, many of our brothers and sisters in Christ instead have their own thoughts taken captive so that they do conform to this world.
Such were my thoughts as I watched an evangelical spokeswoman address Climate Week NYC last month.
