In "United in Hate," Dr. Jamie Glazov digs into the spiritually toxic beliefs and madness-inducing convoluted thought processes of Progressive Liberals and all fellow travelers who, in their madness, lust to destroy the very civilization that nourishes them and allows them to exist in freedom. Glazov reveals among other things, the vile and morbid forces that impel death-wishing progressives to embrace not just catastrophically destructive, murderous nature religions such as Marxist "scientific socialism" and radical Islam but the systematic elimination of all who stand in the way of the long-fantasized about earthly utopia, or heaven on earth:
"The believer's totalitarian journey begins with an acute sense of alienation from his own society---an alienation to which he himself is completely blind. In denial about the character flaws that prevent him from bonding with his own people, the believer has convinced himself that there is something profoundly wrong with his society (and) fantasizes about building a perfect society where he will, finally, fit in." (United in Hate, Jamie Glazov, p. 6)
In other words, like Cain, spiritually desolate progressive believers see no evil within themselves. Evil is what God, Abel and a poorly designed world did and continued doing to spiritually empty Cain who murdered his brother in a vain attempt at alleviating his self-inflicted suffering. Following in Cain's footsteps, the progressive believer suffers from spiritual emptiness, a desolation,
"... of which he himself is not cognizant (thus) the believer forces non-spiritual solutions onto his spiritual problems. He exacerbates this dysfunction by trying to satisfy his every material need..." (ibid, p. 6)
Progressive believers espouse a dystopian faith, but theirs is a secular one that promises redemption of an earthly variety (socialism), said Glazov. The progressive faith is a secular religion, its' socialist dynamics,
"....constitute a mutated carbon copy of Judeo-Christian imagery. Socialism's secular utopian vision includes a fall from an ideal collective brotherhood, followed by a journey through a valley of oppression and injustice, and then ultimately a road toward redemption." (pp. 6-7)
Writing in agreement, early intellectual conservative Frank Meyers described the mutation as,
"...the final synthesis of all heretical tendencies that have pervaded Western civilization for many centuries." (The Conservative Intellectual Movement, pp. 251-252)
Secular historians James Webb, Alan Gauld and the MacKenzies concur. In their respective books they reveal that the dominant figures behind the progressive faith were mainly lapsed Evangelicals and Anglican clergymen preceded by earlier apostate Christians.
In his two books, “The Occult Underground: The Dawn of the New Age” and “The Occult Establishment,” historian James Webb chronicles the rise of an apostate Christian occult ‘elite’ as it emerged out of the Renaissance, a spiritually traumatic time in which the spiritual roots of many people were shaken free of supernatural Christianity. As a result, apostates eagerly embraced the pantheist/materialist occult traditions — Hermeticism, Theosophy, Buddhism, esoteric Kabbalism, alchemy, neo-Platonism, and Gnosticism — sweeping into Christendom at that time.
Along with all of this came spiritual evolution, reincarnation, and karma, which means that evolutionary conceptions existed long before Darwin as the respected traditionalist metaphysician Rene Guenon (1886-1951) reveals in his brilliant critical analysis of Theosophy and Spiritism entitled, "The Spiritist Fallacy."
Guenon writes that in early Theosophist and spiritist circles use of the word 'progress' or 'progressivist' preceded the use of the word 'evolution.' The roots of Theosophy, hence of evolution, stretch back to the ancient Upanishads of India and to ancient Greece, and in its modern version, progress and/or evolution describes the progress (transmigration) of soul as it inhabits in succession the bodies of different beings over the course of thousands or even millions and billions of years.
Eventually the word evolution became preferred, especially by empirical realists and materialists like Karl Marx because it had a more 'scientific' allure:
"This kind of 'verbalism'...provides the illusion of thought for those incapable of really thinking..." wrote Guenon. (ibid, p. 231).
The onslaught of skepticism, atheism, agnosticism, higher Biblical criticism, dehistorization of the Genesis account, worship of Darwin and scientism together with death-wishing, moral relativism, parasitism, androgyny (gay movement), open borders, decadence, abortion, euthanasia, tax-slavery, nature worship, occult New Age spirituality and assorted madness assaulting the tattered foundations of the West and our Republic was inspired by apostate Christians together with an unhealthy interest in spiritism. Norman and Jeanne MacKenzie explain this strange anomaly:
“There was a Christian fringe to the London socialism of the eighties, but this too was Anglican. The Christian Socialists came together in Stewart Headlam’s Guild of St. Matthew and the Land Reform Union; and the more respectable Christian Social Union, formed in 1889 — seeking in Fabian style to permeate the Anglican Church — soon attracted more than two thousand clerical members. Dissenting clergymen too began to find a place in the Fabian Society and the London Progressives, while Unitarian churches and centres like Stanton Coit’s Ethical Church provided a meeting place for believers and idealist agnostics . . . Socialism was for all of them, the new Evangelism.”
“The lesson instilled by Evangelical parents had been given a secular form. Evolution or what (Sidney) Webb called Zeitgeist, had taken the place of Providence, yet what Webb described as ‘blind social forces…which went on inexorably working out social salvation’ did not relieve men of their moral responsibility. Victorian religion had taught that a belief in God’s purposes must be accompanied by an effort to discern and advance them. Socialists who substituted a secular religion for the faith of their youth felt the same compulsion.” (Norman and Jeanne MacKenzie, The Fabians, 1977, pp. 18, 115-116)
The progenitor of the Fabian Society was the Cambridge University spiritist group, the Ghost Society founded in 1851. The Ghost Society also spawned the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) founded in 1887:
“Council Members and Honorary Members of the SPR included a past Prime Minister (William Gladstone)…and a future Prime Minister (Arthur Balfour)…2 bishops; and Tennyson and Ruskin, two of the outstanding literary figures of the day (as well as) Lewis Carroll (and) a surprising number of titled persons.” (Alan Gauld, The Founders of Psychical Research, p. 140)
Above all else, revolutionary progressive socialist organizations such as the Fabians consisted of committed Darwinian elitists intolerant of free market systems, individual liberties, private property and cumbersome processes of democracy who wanted to see a new order ruled by a superior caste.
John Taylor Gatto, former New York State and New York City Teacher of the Year, also tracked the rise of this destructive faith and its neo-pagan occult ‘elite’ together with the potent interconnected shadow-government they created to radically reshape the Western and American consciousness. In his book, “The Underground History of of American Education” Gatto points to Fabian socialists as one of the most powerfully effective revolutionary ‘change-making’ organizations and notes that Darwin was the ‘weird holy man’ they adored,
“…the man who gave them a theory inspirationally equal to god-theory, around which a new organization of society could be justified.” (p. 180)
In “Science, Politics and Gnosticism,” highly-respected political philosopher Eric Voegelin (1901-85) examines the Gnostic roots of the progressive faith. His indepth analysis reveals that modern Gnostic movements run the gamut from Progressive Liberalism to Comte’s positivism, dialectical materialism, Hegelianism, Marxist Communism and Nazi Socialism to Schleiermacher’s doctrine of faith, and theosophy.
Putting it all together, the progressive faith is in fact a "mutated carbon copy of Judeo-Christian imagery"--- a 'new' pagan form of ancient pre-Christian and Christian-era Gnosticism in which salvation---the loss of self and individuality by way of submersion within for example, a monistic World Soul or communal consciousness --- is attained through the knowledge of Gnostic teachers (i.e., contemporary spiritual guides, gurus, 'experts,' certain ‘scientists’) possessed of the Gnostic cosmology, or evolutionary un-creation account.
The former Soviet Union exemplifies the Gnostic progressive faith in its' materialist dress. Communism then is a philosophically materialist form of apostate Protestant (occult pantheist) liberalism’s evolutionary proclamation of a coming millennial new order grounded in belief in the inevitability of upward evolutionary progress (from dead-matter to amoeba to sea-weed, reptile, ape, man and then finally god-man) and of the perfectibility of this fallen world.
It was Marxist materialists who made the first attempt to scientifically re-engineer human beings after the fashion of Buddha's programmatic nihilism said Vishal Mangalwadi, India's foremost Christian intellectual. After seizing control of Russia, they utilized mind-conditioning techniques such as propaganda and re-education with emphasis on Darwinism as well as mind-altering drugs, electro-shock therapy, torture, terror and other brutal measures to,
"...liquidate all expressions of individual identity in favor of an impersonal collective, communal consciousness." (The Book that Made Your World, Mangalwadi, p. 74)
Prior to the turn of the century, the living, supernatural God was dead in the hearts of America's spiritually desolate 'elite' progressives, and upon the arrival of Swami Vivekananda at the Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893 they eagerly embraced him:
"He was immediately lionized by high society in Boston and New York. Philosophers at Harvard were mightily impressed. Many wealthy high society types and intellectuals reverted to the Buddhist idea that self is an illusion. They constituted a '... hard core of disciples who supported him and his grandiose dream: the evangelizing of the Western world by....Vedantic (monistic) Hinduism." (Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future, Fr. Seraphim Rose, p. 21)
Vedanta Societies were established in America and Europe for the purpose of injecting Vedantic ideas into the bloodstream of the West and America. Among those who helped disseminate Vedanta monism were Aldous Huxley, Christopher Isherwood, Somerset Maugham, and Teilhard de Chardin.
The Sixties witnessed a whole series of Indian gurus make their mark on the student generation. Progressive elites introduced popular culture to any number of nature-beliefs, from Vedanta monism, Zen Buddhism, pantheism, panentheism, reincarnation and karma to belief in a vague immanent 'force,' World Soul, Gaia (Mother Earth) and Teilhard de Chardin's Omega Point:
".....de Chardin believed that humanity could achieve a form of Godhood or a high level of spirituality called the Omega Point. This was an evolutionary process that everyone could attain through discipline and dedication to the path of enlightenment." (Reflections of the Omega Point, Frank Tipler, omegapoint.org)
The exciting new progressive pagan spirituality discouraged belief in the Biblical God and promised followers that by dedication to the path of enlightenment they would attain godhood through the merging of their souls with the cosmic universe. Through guided imagery, Tantric sex, kundalini yoga, hypnosis, possibility-thinking, dream-work, past-life regression, mind-altering drugs, rhythmic music, and spiritistic practices such as channeling, initiates could be raised to new levels of consciousness, develop psychic powers, release their souls from their bodies through astral projection and merge their consciousness with the void.
In his article, "Confronting Neo-Paganism in the Culture and the Church" Dr. Peter Jones reports that many of the progressive architects of the new spirituality,
".... such as Aldous Huxley, Joseph Campbell, and Huston Smith were converts of Vedanta... Contemporary architects... call themselves 'Cultural Creatives,' 'Progressives,' 'Evolutionaries,' 'Integral Spiritualists,' 'Interspiritualists' or 'Transtraditional Spiritualists.' It is doubtless true to say that the key New Age leaders and their present disciples all claim some form of Vedantic enlightenment." (truthexchange, Apr. 12, 2011)
Tragically, it is already the case that for increasing numbers of contemporary progressives the death of God has made it impossible for them to affirm the existence of the human self thus they actively seek the annihilation of their souls through drugs, Tantric sex, yoga, and meditation. As with Buddha and contemporary Hindu gurus some initiates are trying to merge their individual consciousness with the void.
The progressive faith reverses and inverts each major tenet of God’s Revealed Word. For example, neither Lucifer nor man has fallen from perfection into sin but is evolving ever upward toward greater and greater perfection. The living, supernatural God is supplanted by a living energy called evolution--identified by some occult insiders as the seething energies of Lucifer and the Angel Lucifer. In any case, Lucifer's seething energies (evolution) are the principle miracle-producing powers of an evolving universe infused with divine consciousness while human beings are themselves evolving upward toward a divinity of their own and can now achieve ever-higher levels of consciousness by directing their own evolution because they are no longer created in the spiritual image of the living, supernatural God since Lucifer--- the first free-thinker---has liberated them. Man’s rational self-consciousness—reason, will and intellect—supplants the Mind of God and is the first inkling of man’s own latent divinity.
In one form or another, the Gnostic progressive faith has so far produced every bloody utopian politico-religious movement of the 20th century, and said Glazov,
"It is crucial to emphasize...that the believer is indifferent to the consequences of his own ideology in the sense that he needs to deny them in public. This is because he fears that their exposure will delegitimize his pursuit of his own neurotic urges. The believer therefore consistently denies what is actually happening within the totalisms he worships. Even if it is proven to him that his revolutionary idols perpetrate mass oppression and slaughter, he will take pains not to speak of it (because) privately he approves of the carnage (because it) is what attracts him in the first place." (Glazov, p. 8)
Today the murderous, madness-inducing progressive faith underpins contemporary 'green' occult-pantheist New Age globalist hopes and visions of a coming 'sustainable' socialist world order:
"The Obama administration continues to move forward with its “green” agenda, despite new concerns on the heels of a high-profile bankruptcy in the solar-energy sector. More recently, approximately 500 Texans lost their jobs Monday because of Environmental Protection Agency regulations on the energy industry." (Obama administration marches forward with ‘green’ agenda despite Solyndra scandal, Matthew Boyle, The Daily Caller, Sep 14, 2011)
Obama has been close friends with progressive terrorists throughout his political career,
"...including Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn (as well as sitting) for twenty years in the church of the socialist Reverend Wright whose antipathy towards the United States has become famous." (Glazov, p. 168)
In whatever form it takes, the progressive faith proclaims the same millenial fantasy: a coming “new order” in which all Biblical moral standards, sexual ethics and traditions—--seen as relative to a particular stage in the ongoing process of evolution—--will be forever changed just as all distinctions between life forms and gender will be blurred in the idea of evolution from molecule to man to god-man. In the same way, all distinctions between nations and religions will be blurred in the vision of this-worldly perfection.
Evolution together with the progressive proclamation of a coming new world order is what Fr. Seraphim Rose described as,
“(a) deep-seated primordial force, which seems to capture people quite apart from their conscious attitudes and reasoning (because) it’s been drilled into everyone from the cradle, and therefore is very hard to bring out and look at rationally.” (Genesis, Creation, and Early Man, Seraphim Rose, p. 35)
Throughout America and the West, progressive believers are both evangelists of unbelief in the God of Revelation and the Divine Truth that once sustained Westerners and Americans as well as enforcers of this particular unbelief. In this light, they are contemporary evangelists of the still spreading apostasy to occult neo-paganism and universal evolutionism that has characterized the modern age since its beginning.
